mornin' all- well west coasters anyway - afternoon to east coasters- and hi to everyone else -- LOL

Mark-
I found a few mentions about - I think it's termed "claw hand" or clawing???

googled this - site:brain.hastypastry.net claw hand

click on the cached versions to get the info

we can use this same search and change the topic or a name after the .net part to get to some of the old BT1 info

[The way PT explained it to me, if the tendons start to tighten, it can pull the muscles. My tricep and biceap are "shortened" so I cannot straighten my arm all the way. I have tendon glide exercises I do with my hands, so my tendons in the hand don't shorten and I don't end up with a "claw hand." Look online googling for "physical therapy" "tendon glides" and leg. Do some of those to keep the tendons limber. It's VERY important to do them.]

[ Not a TOS expert but
I've had two trigger fingers, where they bent down, particularly at night, and I had to pry them open in am, fixed with injection of steroid and lidocaine. Neither ever came back. Sometimes it is from a problem of that particular tendon not gliding properly on it's path.

Alot of these weird hand things are coming from nerve involvement in your/our cervical spine. Hand problems are quite a bother aren't they.

I find that with time, my fingers have all gone to a natural position, flexed inward a little - can't lay hand flat on table, no biggy with me at this point.

You brought up a good issue here with the fingers bent in... my middle, ring and pinky all are closed and to straighten them out actually hurts in my forearm. I also would like an answer as to why this does happen... I know my EMG said something about slowing in the ulnar nerve, however unsure if this could be part of the cause!
God Bless and Good luck!

very likely the cause,
although the orthopedic surgeon who did my carpal tunnels and injected trigger fingers, said no, but that was AFTER I'd had my surgery, he ran such a busy, busy clinic, and never had time to talk to me. After my injections however, I was fine.

----------------------------------------------------
I think others have this too
I think that's why curldfingers picked it for her name and some others mentioned it also.
you might try doing a search for that with the "search this forum " feature above the list on the main pages.

if I recall it can be from the nerve irritations sending a wrong signal to that nerve. tells those muscles to contract.
But I'm not up on any details of it - haven't had that issue.

you could try a google type of search too.
--------------------------------------------------------
The "official" name for this is claw hand. Search for it in Google and add the name of the nerve affected.
It is often a bad nerve that paralyses the small muscles and that paralysis produces contractures which pull the fingers into these positions.
If you have tendon problems that show up in similar ways, it is not quite as bad as there you can get rid of it with exercise and patience whereas if you get it from a pathological nerve, it is much more difficult.

An interesting description of all sorts of nerve injuries is here:
http://www.studystack.com/studytable-10342
click on "show all" to show them all.

And another good site with pictures showing the effect of ulnar nerve palsy:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/wnor/c...iderations.htm
----------------------------------------------------------------------
hope some of these help- there's more info out there- but I've been on the computer way too much this last weeks when it has been trying to crash and now done did it - and now rebuilding & resetting up my info.
if anyone wants a link for kubuntu - a easy Linux operating system
let me know.
I can boot from winXP or Kubuntu
still have to work out my wireless connection for Kubuntu - doesn't see my wireless card

Wow, what a beautiful morning it is here in So California..
Thanks so much Mark for sharing your experience with the bone graft.. It helps..
My Surgery date for my fusion repair was pushed up to the 22nd.. So less than 2 weeks to go.. I had to stop my anti-inflamatory medication yesterday so I'm not looking forward to the aches that will come from that...And today my head feels like I have a vise closing in on it.. Ugh..
I hope that everyone has a pain free weekend..
((Hugs))
Dawn

TODAY I........

Have to say thank you to Jo on the links and info she provided, hopefully it not only aids me, but also others who are going through this! Once again this moring bending my arm after sleep with it straight caused great pain bending it, but was able to do it with out waking my wife

I know you will do just fine Dawn with your surgery.... there are a lot of people ove here pulling, thinking, and praying for a quick return in health for you Dawn to be exact it is the illiac crest (top of the hip) where they take
the bone from. If you are into vanity, you may want to check with your Dr what and when you can start applying something like cocca butter to this site to help not scarrring, me I just look at it like another part of me

Read back in this post and would like to remind BOTHRed and Horizontal One, that this forum is not always here to share or talk about the good things in one's life (though that is always a nice thing when that happens) but also a place to come and vent to others who live like we do!

Was nice to see some of the regulars from BT 1 moviing about like Law, Krankiegirl, Tam, Gromlily, Edelweis, DiMarie, Beth... some new people like Orthomolecular, hairdresser, Bobbi.... so sorry if I missed anyone, and if I did please do by all means pop by and say Hi or if you know anybody from the old boards that need a hand moving over here please do help them find the way HOME

I was wondering if anybody knows of a way to move a Post over here to the top so that when others come about they see it first.... I do beleive That Drs list that I created should always be on top as well as "Useful Sites" started by Bobbi. Personally I think Churchgirls Doctors list was more inclusive than what I could dig up, but trying to share tried and proven doctors and that was all I could come up with!

I pass along a bit of extra hope for DiMarie.... had a personal E-mail from her and at the moment her life seem to be in a bad spiral downhill fast, truthfully I do not know how she handles some of the things she does!

am highly upset with my bank.... they put a freeze on my account due to lapse in child support *(which my support officer knows)* once I get things straightened out my guys will be taken care of.... Kind of hadr considering I have had no income since 10/10/05 and WC is pulling delay after delay! Well when we were told there was a freeze on the account the banks rep said they would cover all checks till things were straight! NOT we have been getting service charge after service charge from the checks we had out before we knew there was a hold on the account! We always had a good credit rating and I always paid above and beyond on my support!!! Even though I am sure she used the money elsewhere.... infact, whne my guys come down, they do not bring a change of clothes, I always purchased a wardrobe for them here!!!!

Oh Well.... need a time out fingers and left side is starting to hurt hope to hear back in the mean time as it rests !!!

From Mark-n-Goober, we wish all a good day !!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry Mark that you have to live through this stuff.

The stress will kill us if the TOS doesn't, huh?! Hang in there for all of us, though, please...but it is so wrong of work comp to do that to you.

Sympathy - empathy - love your way!

Dawn good luck with you upcoming surgery.
My son nearly had to have a graft when he shattered his wrist- but dr was able to use many pins after all.

Dimarie - I hope all gets smoothed out soon , you have such a full plate- we miss you here.

Mark - fees and bills - grrr---
It's almost like that old saying about death and taxes!

my vent - found out my WC atty "fibbed" or was incorrect , when he said I could submit my left over bills to my pvt ins carrier..

they did pay some of them but when the big PT bills showed up ---they declined
I appealed the decision and got a letter with an enclosure of the policy-

they do not cover any work injury bills - but as a courtesy they will not ask for repayment of those that they did pay.
well at least that is a break.

so the next step is to see if it goes to collections?? and if they will negotiate for a lesser amount.

wittesea has found links to the drs list {cached} I copied all the info from them to both of my sites.
http://forums.delphiforums.com/TOSRSI/start
http://pub36.bravenet.com/forum/3018365670

or you can ask docjohn to make a sticky for a Drs list and we can get them all in one place.

Today I.......
Ask all to take a few moments of their day to remeber those who went down by the hands of the radicals ! Also to think about our people in Afghanistan and Iraq, who are there trying to quell any further acts of faceless destruction ! Also I ask those in the US to Fly the colors of the flag, in support of our people over there and the dead, fallen and wounded!!!

Amen Mark,
This is an extremely sad day for our country and it's hard to sit and watch all of the tributes that are on TV today and also the video tapes of that day- the planes hitting the buildings, the twin towers collapsing, people jumping out of buildings, people who were covered in ashes leaving the buildings, the plane crash in PA, and so on.....It's hard, but we NEED to watch this over and over, so we don't forget....We need to remember the police officers and fire fighters who lost their lives trying to save others, and our soldiers that are fighting and many of them losing their lives, for our freedom- which also includes freedom of speech. We need to remember that things have changed forever and there are people in this world who would like to wipe us off the map, along with any other country that is different from them, and they would do this without a second thought- we need to pull our heads out of the sand and realize this..... I have to admit, I'm stunned by some of the things that are being said on forum feedback on this very subject, but I've just stayed out of it. We do all have the right to say what we think and to have differing opinions and hopefully we can allow others to have a different opinion without attacking them or their opinion. But, no matter what we think about the war or our government- and while this country isn't perfect, it's still a wonderful place to live, otherwise why would so many people across the globe be trying to come here to live? And I thank God that we have the right to say what we think and live in freedom- because in many of the countries in this world, people aren't allowed the freedom to say what they think- especially if they're criticizing their government. I support our country, I support our president even though I don't always agree with everything he does, and I support our troops who are dying for us to have the rights we have. I hope I haven't offended anybody- this is just my opinion.

Boy it brings back a lot of memories- I was at work when 9/11 happened - so fast we all changed to the same radio station and turned them all up .
everywhere we walked we could here the reports - not too many scopes built that day.
many of us even on the west coast were in shock at the news.

on another note-
since my hard drive died - I lost my email addresses from those of you that I had-
and no I can't remember them - braindrain LOL

so please send me a PM or email with your email addy-
I think it would be nice to have everyones -
in case of anymore BT1 or BT2 crashes

and my websites are listed in my post before this one {bookmark /favorites them}- so you can always post or message me there too.

Default Today I

apologize for not writing the last days. I had a lot of things to do, and my arm hurts, so I didn`t want to type more than I have to at work.

I read all your posts - so I am up to date what happens.

Just want to wish a good day to everyone!

Very nice greetings
