I have been on Neurintin for about 7 months.... I dont know if it really helps or not, as I have progressively worsened over these last 7 month despite all the therapy, posture vest, tens unit and changing how I live my life. I have experienced weight gain 18 pounds
![]() Just got my Dr report from the last visit and this is what he stated about the switch: I would like to make the switch as I feel Lyrica is more effective and has fewer side effects. I suspect she will need to go up on Lyrica or Neurontin and would like to transition her as soon as possible. Really cant stand this weight gain garbage... it really sucks..when does it go away...and is it easy to loose the weight after im off these drugs? ![]() Thanks "

another option to consider is duloxetine - it's licensed for painful diabetic neuropathy but my neurologist has had good results using it in this kind of situation. I switched from pregabalin to duloxetine recently and so far seems to be controlling things better for me. You take it at night so also helping me sleep.

I've tried Gabapentin, Lyrica and Flexeril.
Gabapentin I found didn't do anything, and you had to take so many freaking pills to ramp up the dosage! I think it also made me kinda tired. Lyrica, wow, welcome to zombieville. I was so tired when taking this med. Hard to say if it really even helped, but from what I remember, I dont think so. Flexeril, again this made me very tired. If the drugs Im taking are making me just zombie like, even if they help with my arm, I can't continue taking them because then whats the point you know? I just take advil and/or tylenol now as needed. Thanks |

The ER route is what is used as a last resort to get by until they can get to their own dr, or during an extreme flare up of pain. mostly only for immediate pain reduction if pain is out of control and dr is not accessible... but do take some papers/report from your dr or they will possibly label you as drug seeking...Bad, I know but it does happen. {Just so you are aware what may happen when /if you go to ER for TOS pain/symptoms.} Some have had Lyrica help and some just have a bad time with it. You can do a total forum search for Lyrica {or any med} to find what others here have expiration. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/search.php and we have a medications forum full of info also. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum72.html
