Default Anyone had 1st rib adjusted?

Hi All,

Still waiting on Surgery.... I was supposed to have on the 27th...however the DR had to take me off and reschedule me 8( it will give me more time to WAIT! lol like none of us knows what that is like.

In the mean time really trying to find something that helps, relieve the pain even for a few hours. Try to make a long story short.... I had not gone to PT in about 1 month was really flared up, on pain meds every 4 hours for 6 days and was at the point I wanted someone to just cut my arm off.... Went to get a massage, @ a chiropractors office, I have used them before in between waiting for PT approvals.... I had talk to the Chiropractor about what TOS was ect.... and when I came back this time, he wanted to "TRY" and adjustment on me, had done some research and talk to a few DR.... he adjusted my 1st rib, as well as my neck, as soon as he adjusted my 1st rib ALL, (not kidding) ALL my tos symptoms were gone... I could not remember ever feeling that great! so yes of course I took my boyfriend and headed to the coast for the weekend

After day 3, I did start to get numbing into my fingers and then by day 5 all my TOS symptoms came back full force.

Anyone else ever done this? Talk to my Primary DR, trying to get him to write me a script to see the Chiro, however he does not believe in it, Yes as he put it, I got my Crack fix....but holy hell for 3 days I felt like myself, and sure I over did myself.

I know its not a cure all...it was just super amazing not taking drugs and feeling the way I did.

I should know in a few days when surgery is ...... and Im more ready then ever!
Hope everyone is doing great, been reading the surgery updates....Great everyone seems to be doing great!

Yes I had it done a few times, worked out great for me- it was like a miracle!. and so painless and simple.
I was just amazed.
You might have over done it enjoying the good feeling.
Easy to do that.

Mine tried to raise up again a few times after that first drop down, but I told my chiro about what the adv. PT guy did to relieve that stubborn problem and he started checking it each time.
He uses a different technique but it works also.

I can now tell when I'm getting into that "tension" zone in and around my collar bone/shoulder junction -and can usually stop what might be triggering that tension before I go into spasms or ending up with the top ribs stuck again.

Hope you dont mind but I hate hearing that kind of statement so much! Why is it that doctors are so quick to accept the idea of cutting us up and taking parts out to fix things, but when you find something else that works they say "they dont believe in it" Shouldnt it be the other way around that they see surgery as a last resort to fix the problem?!
Hope you dont mind the rant. I think if it works for you great, keep going. Im glad it gave you some relief without having to be high.

You're lucky you found something which gave you relief. Your delay in surgery could be a gift to you. I'd keep at the chiro and anything else which helps. There are skilled PTs and even the use of diapramatic breathing can lower your rib. You proved you can find relief without surgery.

Morally and ethically, I don't think a surgeon should perform surgery on a patient who can have a few wonderful days.

...but after ten years of only having "a few wonderful days" per year, going in debt because all you do is keep paying chiropractors, massage therapists, osteopaths, physical therapists, and other people a couple times a week just to keep you going, you'll look back and think... WHY ON EARTH DID I NOT LET THEM CUT THIS OUT OF ME BACK WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE?

I hate to break it to you, but if you knew me 10 years ago on these boards, you'd never BELIEVE this is me now. I was one of the most positive people you could have met.

But ten years later, after this disease has BEATEN me down, down, down, down, down...

CUT IT OUT WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE.

Default omt & the lord of the fishes <')))><

i thought i had a kidney stone once my rib pain was so bad, but not the first rib. yes it does help if you have a skilled adjustment. skill is so rare tho. and the rib always goes out again. also, they stick together and don't move like they should. the omt doc recommends some of same poses i try to do in yoga. Specifically he recommended the half lord of the fishes pose. if like me you have to modify it so you can do it, and the doc says that is better than not trying at all.

Sarah - Glad to hear someone else figured out that suffering slowly long-term isn't any better than potentially allowing surgery to make it worse more quickly. At least if a surgeon screws something up, there'll be someone to blame, and hopefully someone willing to help fix it and make it better. It's worth a chance to get your life back.
