It seems like quite a few TOSers have other illnesses or medical problems as well. I just found out that I have May-Thurner Syndrome (which I've heard called TOS of the lower body!) where one of the large pelvic veins is compressed behind an artery. I'm just gutted. Not only do I have to deal with bilateral TOS of all three types, but now this as well! I am at my wit's end and am wondering how those of you who deal with multiple problems handle it without getting totally overwhelmed.
I'm also now more confused than ever about getting the TOS surgery. Being laid up on the operating table and in bed afterwards will definitely be risky for me. I just don't know which problem needs the most immediate attention. |

The same vascular surgeon diagnosed both conditions. He is of a very conservative mindset though and doesn't recommend treatment for either at this point, even though my circulation is now compromised in both arms and both legs. I am to let him know if either arm or leg balloons in size (thus indicating a clot) but other than that just keep on as I am. I am in the process of getting second opinions about the TOS and will discuss the MTS as well. Unfortunately, since both conditions are rare a vascular surgeon who specializes in one almost certainly wouldn't specialize in the other as well.
