When someone touches your arm, or playfully pinches you and you still feel it as if it all day as if it just happened?
I know it is a stupid question, don't blame anyone for not answering it. just wanted to know if anyone else experiences this and what it means? G-MOM2 |

Trix,
You are an Angel for answering. Thank You! Can I ask if you are able to work? If this is a GOOD sign I never had this before this has just started happening to me. I was DX with TOS back in 2004. My arms were always achey heavy uncomfortable feeling like I just wanted to cut them off. Elbows are the worst. I guess I pulling at straws here looking for maybe an improvement in my condition even a slight one? Thanks for answering, G-mom2 |

hi,
towelhorse here. when i first had tos we had also just picked up a new labrador puppy. after play fighting with the puppy, the scratch and bite feelings persisted in my affected arm for hours, whereas in my good arm you wouldnt have known anything had happened. a pt said it was pain memory. The double crush theory of why TOS people have strange neural responses in upper limbs describes axonal transport, that is, the nutrient and waste needs to be moved along the nerve. if there are multiple points of compression on the nerve there will not be enough flow to enable the nerve to function properly. it gives incorrect responses to stimuli. this may help http://www.whiplash101.com/thoracic_outlet_syndrome.htm or this http://www.hf.hio.no/mensend/student...menter/TOS.pdf |

No I do not work. I do run a daycare out of my home, but the kids I take are all older, and do not need carrying and changing etc.

HI G-mom, although i cannot stand to be massaged I asked hubby last week to massage my rib cage and armpit (lighty). After just 3-4 minutes I had excruciating pain. I have heard massage is good for us...but i found the pain unbearable and was sore for a cpl days. I am the same way with both shoulders also. MY vasc surgeon believes the pain is from the nerve compression. I'm not sure which nerve. Hope this helps, Ihtos

This was posted by Gromlily in RSD about a study...
di Neuroimaging Studies Cortical Restructuring in Patients with Chronic Pain (IRB #78011) Purpose: Recent research has demonstrated that chronic pain can induce changes in the brain that can amplify and maintain the pain experience. We are characterizing this phenomenon in patients with a variety of chronic pain conditions (neuropathic pain, low back pain, fibromyalgia, interstitial cystitis, etc.) using a variety of neuroimaging techniques. We are following these preliminary studies with further investigations into the effects of treatment on reversing the brain changes induced by chronic pain. We are currently recruiting female patients with right-upper extremity chronic regional pain syndrome (CRPS) for a study on the reorganization of the somatosensory cortex. Details here. PI: Dr. Sean Mackey

DiMarie,
Couple things don't quite click Diane , , I Do NOT tolerate Cold am sleeping with gloves on at night to keep my hands warm. I don't think it is RSD as I don't have the horrible discoloration that goes with it burning pain feels only like I I have only overworked muscles which you and I both know I don't do anything. The info you sent and input of everyone else was so interesting though I THANK YOU. I guess whatever it is will go away or eventually rear its head long enough for someone to figure it out. Can you tell I'm trying to keep my mind off of other things? gonna send you a PM. Are you okay? Hugs, G-mom2 |
