It can be cured, not fully cured but you can improve to ther point where symtpoms arent as noticable.
But sorry to say a change of career is probably going to have to happen. working at a computer most of the week causes all kinds of problems. it jsut isnt good stopping work for about 3 months might have 2 happen to, otherwise it will jus be a case of oen step foward and 2 steps back. |

:-( this is not quality of life. I feel like I am just slowly biding my time until I start the lifestyle of chronic pain and counting the days until I die. I see why people get desperate for a surgery they know has little chance of really working. There is no option left for them.

Tip : you need a life meaning compatible with the situation.

But they also had RSD/causalgia - which has been described as 24/7 pain. Some have also acquired RSD before any TOS surgery. [Brachial plexus injuries with causalgia resulting from transaxillary rib resection. Authors Horowitz SH. Journal Arch Surg. 1985 Oct;120(10):1189-91.]

Fair point, it's 20 years old. But "resulting from" means (to me) caused by the rib removal surgery. I guess it's pretty vague otherwise. But with even knowledge of that, who in their right mind would see surgery as a real possible fix for this. Just so deflating and hopeless. I wish the statistics were even just a little better.
I would speculate a "real" recovery statistic is more like 20% probability from nTOS decompression. That is just frustrating beyond all words that there can't be better odds. Sadly I'm at the place mentally where i'd even gamble with those odds. I'm that desperate. |

how do u think i feel? im 25 years old, in my peak and along comes TOS. there has been times i have very strongly considered ending it all but then i jus woke up one day and thought there is alot worse then me out there.
Until you have tried everything , and it will take time ( give it 2 years or so) i woudlnt be gettting so down. Like i said before there is a massage therapist i know that developed TOS and he took 9 months off work and is now back to work and feeling nearly pain free. Its a process that alot of people and even Physio's dont understand or they jus dont botehr telling you. I have notcied with all the specialists u see none of them tell u wat they advise you shoudlnt do . Me persoanlly im working hard now about (70hrs a week) and wen i have enough cash saved, im taking at least 3 months off work and dedicationg every single day to eating right , streching and strengthening and if after 3 - 6months im still not feeling good enough ill go back to surgeon and see wat he thinks. If i have to ill get surgery because i understand long term compression to the arteries can cause serious damage after a while . and if after surgery im feeling worse then i was before.. ill go out with a bang somehow , but before that i will try everything possible. |

I'm only 33 too - so I'm not much older. I've already had to accept my career is ending because of it. My marriage is not far behind. I'm still in pain and fear it getting worse each week. It's awful such small parts of the body can cause such debilitating discomfort. |
