Ahhhhhh so im a recent 20yo college medical student and avid soccer player i was playing at Syracuse for school and before that for the Houston Dynamo.. anyway. I have textbook TOS. I mean absolutely perfect neurogenic, arterial, and venous symptoms. This has been an interesting road to but ill cut to the chase. I had my pec minor released because the first doctor said that it was urgent based on a venogram.. it wasn't that bad. i was surprised how much you aren't really affected by it.. but recently my TOS has gotten worse and i need a scalenetcomy and 1st rib resection by the supraclavicular approach... anyone had this? im worried about pain.. im a ***** when it comes to it lol.. i had a bone removed from my ankle(about the size of a dime) and i thought i was gonna die. bone pain is the worst we are always taught in school. so i can only imagine when i get 90% of it removed!?? pleaseeeeeeeeee someone bring me back to earth! i go under the knife tuesday afternoon!!

What is your symptomes ? How many time to you have them ?

Your dopplar / venography result ?

Many that had the surgery describe it as feeling like being hit by a big truck for a week or 2.
So many things are moved around during the surgery to get access that it is all over upper body pain I think, I don't recall anyone mentioning "bone pain" specifically. Just hurts everywhere for awhile.

plenty of pillows, recliner- many sleep in it for awhile after they get home as they can't lie down flat in bed, prepared meals in freezer, lots of fluids, take meds on time so pain stays under control.. all tips for recovery time

I have numbness in the last 2 fingers purple hand when down at
My side white when elevated and cold fingers/hand.. My venogram revealed total compression of my axillary vein you can see in the first picture. So they proceeded with a resection of the muscle.

Yes it is rare because the syndrome it's self os always overlooked. Mine had to be dealt with because of the chance of thrombosis. And the face that I had symptoms after the sugery led them to believe that now the only compression now is 1rib.. Lol it does look much more major than I anticipated but it's not that bad.

That be great I'd you could point me in the direction of a forum. How bad is the pain tho? Should I talk to my doctor or anestesthia prior to sugery. I am really concerned that he doesn't understand my struggle right after surgery

You can ask about how he plans to address your pain control after surgery.

some get the pump ? where they can hit the button at anytime as needed. I'm not sure of the correct name for it.

Of course a skilled surgeon is a big plus for this , not a time for a beginner to be learning on you.
So you can also ask how many of these has he done per year, or in total...?

Don't feel obligated to stay with any Dr if you don't feel 100% sure - get another opinion from a qualified dr.

i have the exact same symptoms when my arm is lowered my entire arm goes purple and when i raise it it goes white let me know how your surgery went i feel for u

I have to say ,in my case Iam so happy Ihad the T.O.S.surgery rib removal.It was very painful and takes huge recovery time ,but Iam so greatful my hand is no longer cold and no wrist ,elbow or shooting cramp pains ,only my nerves in my neck and shoulder are still tender and if I over work ,its so painful!Yet I am greatful for the the recovery so far ,even though Istill away to go,still neck pains and shoulder pain ,I am glad I had the surgery,good luck
