Default Stretching increases strength and endurance

It's good to know that stretching increases both strength and endurance. That means it can be a great place to start with fitness if you're completely out of shape.

It also means that all of our TOS related stretching has more benefits than just lengthening and decompression. Thank goodness, because that's a lot of time we put in.

I had heard about the strengthening before, but not the endurance and had not previously read the details of the study:

yesterday when i went to pt

she did a nerve glide on me and it was different this time

so normally it hurts most when she bends my arm and wrist back (like the hear no evil position) aka nerve..ulnar

this time it hurt the most with my arms straight out at my side and the hear no evil position didnt hurt much, a little bit but nothing compared to straight. i have been experiencing burning pain from talking on the phone with my arms bent. but it is not widespread burning. just in places inside my elbow, wrist etc.

ANYWAYS, long story short. she said bc it hurt straightened more it's from a tight muscle in my arm. and she rubbed it a lot and the pain went WAY down when i straightened my arm again.

i like manual therapy /massage bc you can stretch the muscles out with less irritation than standard stretching. imho. but at some point i guess i gotta figure out a way to stretch that muscle on my own.

Seeing, hearing this way too much these days in regards to the pain with PT
Please, be aware if it hurts its not the correct therapy
So many patients contact us about physical therapy. And even though therapists say they can treat TOS the patient really needs to interview the therapist on their protocol.

What is their education is TOS? They should all have education and experience in Alexander techniques, Sharon Butler and Peter Edgelow protocol.
What is the plan for your injury, post op?
Success rate?
How many TOS patients have they treated?

Manual therapy to floss and elongate the nerve shafts is a good thing however this should be done at serious baby steps gradually being able to open hand, straighten elbow, open thoracic BP area.

If there is any strengthening invloved its is the wrong therapy for a TOS pt and will only hinder in the long run and maybe worsen your condition
