Yes I do--not only my arm, but also the back of my neck. I have bilateral arterial and venous TOS (I got it from severe whiplash); I'm pretty sure I also have neurogenic TOS, and I will see a neurologist for the nerve conduction studies, etc. to determine that. I will be getting partial rib resection surgeries on both sides (about one month apart). What has helped me a lot are Lidoderm patches. They are large patches with local anesthetic that you stick on to the painful area (for a maximum of 12 hours). You need a prescription from your doctor to get them. My burning pain reaches its peak toward the end of the day, so I put a couple of the patches on in the evening and sleep with them. They don't always stay stuck on that well, so I fasten them on with some tape to keep them in place.

to olecyn: I don't know if you meant to be funny, but your post made me laugh, and trust me, I really need that right now, with the thought of two major surgeries coming up! You have a way with words :-)

I agree, it's difficult to work with a mild tos seriously.

Yes, I get burning in the back of my neck, scapula, lower rib cage, forearms and top of hands. If I do stuff that requires fine motor skills (which I used to do when I worked), I get burning in my wrists and elbows.
I have bilateral NTOS. My left side was operated on 7 years ago. Kelly |

Blood circulation issues. I get this problem too! Do everything you can to improve your blood oxygen levels, quit smoking, alcohol and concentrate on your breathing technique, " Belly breath".... from the diaphragm. In short: vessels switching off and a lack of blood circulating to the skin's surface. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-mottled-skin.htm |
