I went to a physical therapist and he said that since just my pinkie finger goes numb, that it is not thoracic outlet.
A doctor said it was thoracic outlet. Is it true, that TOS would have all fingers affected? Not just the pinkie? |

Often it is the pinkie & the ring fingers that are usually affected, but that just shows more of which nerve is being affected. Usually the elbows/ulnar nerve get affected in some way.
Mime came about from multiple RSIs , almost everything except carpal tunnel, although they kept testing for CT anyway.. I lost a lot of fine finger dexterity , but didn't have much actual finger symptoms. I did get a lot of very quick sharp cramp like sensations in the back of my hands that more or less baffled the MDs...but I think all a part of my version of TOS. Luckily those went away, I think with good PT & chiro and such. I don't think it rules TOS in or out , they have to consider all your symptoms together, not focus on only one or 2 to decide. Here's a thread with many symptoms listed by quite a few members - http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=5618

UGH.... what a maze.
i struggle to know what the truth is. do i have tos, if i do, is surgery the right path? if i do not have tos, what do i have. i guess i will still go to my personal trainer for posture and continue to do this ptherapist stuff. the good thing about this pt is that he actually is sensitive to not flaring me up. most of the medical people i go to have no regard to flare ups and want you to keep doing what they want you to do even though it is getting worse. hard to know if you actually do not have tos or if it is just to unknown to people to tell you that you do. sigh. |
