Hey NTRKD,

I was also an out of state patient and stayed two nights at Baylor and a third night at a nearby hotel. The first 7 - 9 days are by far the roughest so do not despair. The high scapular pain is the worst part and it comes with the surgery. I found the staff at Baylor to be the most friendly and helpful of any hospital I have experienced and I have seen a lot. Hang in there and take the pain meds.

TOSmom I know your daughter's day is approaching. I don't know why but I feel like she is going to do really well and a new song will be coming from both of you. Please tell her we are all pulling for her.

I was in the hospital three days. I just took my time, but I was so antsy to get out of there yesterday. Yesterday, the drive from Dallas to Houston was pretty brutal. Whenever my bf hit the breaks, my neck tensed up. Because he had to sew up my neck muscles, I have a lot of pain there still. I sat on a pillow, was fully reclined, and had pillows supporting my back and neck. I guess I'm not as tough as some of y'all
I'm not sure if pearl or his resident did the surgery. I really don't care as long as he was instructing her and double checking her work. But I really don't want to think about that.

I'm trying to take it easy which is definitely harder at home. I don't think Pearl gave me enough meds.

Romans, CTBaseball9, Hope what did you do to get refills on your pain meds from pearl? I heard the prescription has to be brought into the pharmacy.
When did you take the bandage off from the drainage pump?

Goodluck to your daughter on the consult today, tosmom. And best wishes to her on her surgery. She's so lucky to have such a supportive mom

Good luck TOSmom and TOSdaughter. If you meet a nice nurse named Mylanna (ma'lane'uh) tell her a former patient and his wife from six weeks ago said hello. Mylanna is a very sweet and talkative nurse who is raising three boys on her own. All of the staff at Baylor are great and will take great care of your daughter.

I have a pain management doctor in my home town and get all medicine through them. I would think if you call them and tell them you are still hurting they would refill for you.

I was told by my doctor it was okay to remove the bandage 24hrs after the tube was removed. I kept mine on for 2 days so because I was in and out of the hospital visiting my mom so I wanted to make sure the hole was good and covered with a scab before I removed it. I'm sure you've already removed it since this post was a couple of days ago Best of luck to you in your recovery
