I have been diagnosed with TOS (vascular), and have had a lot of trouble with just sitting: it causes a lot of wrist pain. I have found that simply wearing a scarf around my neck and hanging it over the thoracic outlet area allows me to sit with less pain! (I also get massage therapy, acupuncture, do some stretches, and restrict what I do with my hands. Posture helps. I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking so that I do not have to type on a computer.) I thought I would share this in case it helps anyone else. (On the natural side, I have found that ginger helps a lot. Finally, I put coldpressed organic sunflower oil on my wrists at night; I don't know why it helps, but it does.)

Wrist pain is one of my major problems, esp on the computer.
I'll have to try this... On the scarf...are you generally cold? I find that I can relax my shoulders more in a turtle neck (i wear tneck sweaters allllllll winter, even here in SoCal. I don't have that drafty feeling in them. When I get cold I tend to scrunch up my shoulders. Johanna

Have you tried any of Sharon Butlers programs they really have helped me, plus a good chiro and expert PT guy.
here's our useful links with tons of info too- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=84 How did you get Dx'd with Vascular? Is it vascular only? Did you have xrays and MRI to check for any extra cervical ribs or other structures? Mine is mostly vascular now {pulse quits in arms quickly in the provocative positions} but I do have minor nerve symptoms also. still = lack of fine coordination in fingers TrPs or spasms will develop if moderate/heavy overuse of arms/positions I still have some minor vertebral artery symptoms too. I did have = some ulnar sx, much forearm sx, wrist sx nice to meet you and welcome to NT.

I am not generally cold. People think I have a cold because I wear the scarf, but I don't really worry about that part.

I was diagnosed with vascular TOS, first by my primary care doctor, then confirmed with a micro surgeon who wanted to operate (scalenectomy). My primary care recommended against surgery, and I would rather avoid it if possible. I also have scoliosis, and I work with a trainer at the gym who works with people who have limitations. I haven't had much luck with PT's. I have looked before at Sharon Butler's books, and will look through them again. Thanks!
