What is the stupidest advice you have ever received for TOS? Or - the most ignorant comments. Or, the things that did not work!
I always get "Oh, you mean you have carpel tunnel?" Stupidest advice was someone told me to wrap my arms in cabbage and put saran wrap around it to hold it in place. This was supposed to attract blood flow. I did it and hurt like *(#))(! the next morning. And, I am always told "why don't you try acupuncture?" Because I have and it did nothing, that is why. |

Lol....wow I could go on forever with the worst advice and ignorant comments about TOS I have gotten. I also several times got the advice to try acupuncture. Or to see a chiro, but my PT was so great and did everything a chiro would do anyway, so I never saw a point. Also, a close fam member is so ignorant that he said I am "a baby" and I am "blowing my "disease" way out of proportion" and people have it "way worse" etc etc. If I didn't have arm pain, I probably would have punched him and said "that is .0000000001% of the pain I experience on a constant daily basis so stop freakin' comparing my disability, not my "disease" or "injury" to cancer, people who don't have limbs, or to ANYONE because you have no idea what you are talking about!!!" SOOO frustrating because since I "look fine" it means it can't be "that bad" to any ignorant person. Also because I have TOS, I should be confined to my home and cannot have a little fun and attempt to live a normal life, according to MANY ignorant people. Ok I am done venting lol.

"You just have the wrong attitude."
or "You need: exercise, massage, etc." and when people say insensitive things like this, I can't even go home and punch a chair or a pillow. No safe outlets anywhere.

Priceless ignorance.
I've read that women with breast cancer can develop TOS after undergoing mastectomy and lymphectomy. So much ignorance in the medical community regarding TOS.

It's all in your head. There is nothing wrong with you. Do you want a referral to a psychiatrist?
