Has anyone done it?
Do you think it matters if it is done by a tos specialist or just any reasonably good pain doctor? Thanks! |

I've had it done several times pre-surgery. For me, it worked wonders while the shot remained effective. I would personally want it done by someone who did lot of injections into the brachial plexus area. Mine were all done by two physiatrists who treat a lot of TOS patients.

Thanks. I thought you could only do it once or twice at the most?? How many patients would you consider a lot... There is someone local that has done it before and is a respected pain management doctor, and I need it done asap to help me function...but in a month I am going to see Dr. Donahue, whose team is supposed to have a good nuanced view of tos. Would I be missing sonething by not using Donahue's guys, or is it a somewhat standard injection that anyone reasonably respected could accomplish equal results on? thanks so much for any input! |

It also lasts for 3 months so it would be better for you to hold out until getting it from Dr. D. Otherwise you'll have too much going on inside ya, i think. hehe |

Hi- i had it done by Dr. Jordan in L.A. He uses ultrasound and flouroscopy and is very experienced. Unfortunatly it did not help me, but I felt confident he knew what he was doing. He injected it in several places. I would wait for Dr. D if you are going to see him anyway because he is very experienced and will probably want to do it himself anyway. It is very important to use ultrasound guidance so they can see exactly where it is going.

I too have Botox pain procedures by Dr Jordan. They help me immensely lasting up to 6 months. I personally will have the procedures over surgery due to the fact another surgery cannot guarantee help considering the risks and my severe CRPS/RSD. Another surgery will throw the RSD into a Godzilla. Botox is my personal savior. It's an "individual" outcome as with everything.
So many good things about Dr Donahue. GOOD LUCK

I had it recently with good but very short-term relief - for all I know it could have been just placebo effect in the beginning. 2 months later I feel back to normal.
For people getting better results, is it one of those things at with seems to work or not, or worth trying again and again, with different injection sites/doctors/etc.? |

I am in a similar situation. I tried it once with short-term relief...maximum 8 weeks.
I was going to try again to see if the pain relief could be reproduced. For those of you with experience in this area -- if Botox works for you, can you just keeping getting it a few times a year for the rest of your life?? I've been told different things. One doc said you can/should only get Botox 2 or 3 times total. And, then another doc said you can continue to get Botox as long as it works for you (but should space the shots 4 months apart). Would really appreciate any info..... |

i was told it is not "additive," meaning if it does not work for you the first time, adding more will not help you.
the only way I would consider having it "for life" is if you are also combining it with some kind of physical therapy to get your rib down while the muscles are lose from botox |
