Default Lost my job

So well...the "unexpected" happened, after almost half a year off I got my severance package.

Now don't get me wrong, I love new beginnings....except when I doubt my ability to actually do the job.

I browsed the job sites, there are plenty, but I found myself feelings afraid of failing. Afraid of failing to physically do the job. Of course I still have some recovery to do but once I do get released from my surgeon and I do go out there and get a job...then what? What if I work for a few days and the pain creeps back?

I don't know, I'm feeling insecure and kinda down.

Many understand how you feel. The loss is a part of our selves, our identity and what we produced in life. I didn't get a severance package, my son didn't either, he loved the industry and was a young man.

I got back into legal work, not in law enforcement, but as a PI for insurance companies....No surveillance of workers comp, mostly slip and fall, car accident and accident reconstruction. All consulting work, no steady job.

I got to do what I have training in. My son recently got back into airline industry, but it's physically killing him after his cervical fusion and recent car accident.

Keep the brain busy with minimal physical torture is a key. Online is so vast now you over come the loss with new opportunities.

Dental assisting is out of the question even with a full recovery, that job is hard on a healthy body, let alone one like mine.

When I look at office jobs and they say how much and fast you have to type it send me a chill down my spine. I was a very fast typer until touching a mouse made me scream. I would need an office job that allows me to move around through out the day and not type non stop. Yet most jobs involve sitting in front of the screen for 8 hours.

Had you considered watch person for security?
Many are low impact, non confrontational positions, like a door person or watching monitors.

They pay better than entry jobs, but not as much as you were earning. After school programs too. These positions need people to pass clearances and good judgements.

Sorry to hear Nelly, I recently lost my job too - they wouldn't let me return. I've now hired an attorney for disability that I applied for last year. I still have one surgery to go, and my nerves will need to repair themselves, which could take a long time.

Someone said Real Estate, but it does involve computer work, driving, etc...

You may qualify for some assistance when the time comes to find the next job.. perhaps retraining for a more user friendly job that will be better for any possible limitations.

One day at a time I guess...it's difficult to have all this time on my hands and not being able to do that much.
