Default Compooper-desk Top Or Lap Top

What works best for all of u?
I get no love with the desk top and the lap top I have trouble maneuvering the curser with my small motor skills.
Its just like try to read a book.
No position loves me.

When I try to research a few medical sites or read a few minutes
When I stay on for more than 10 minutes and sit.
My body feels like its been thrown up against a wall by King Kong.

@ work i use a desktop, but find myself using my left hand (esp. the ring and pinkie fingers) way too much.

@ home, I usually use a desktop, because the laptop made all of those small motor things difficult- like you said - how do you hold a book correctly. However. right now i'm back to the laptop b/c the desktop decided to give me a diskette drive 0 seek failure (even tho i haven't had a "diskette drive" in forever. just one more thing to figure out how to fix.

I know I had to take a mouse to use when I was working on my aunts laptop the touch pad stuff is uncomfortable for me to use - but she is used to it - she didn't even want to try my optical mouse.
she does have upper back pain so i thought a mouse might be a good change - but she isn't on her pc a lot.

I like my desk top and big chair {a executive style lazyboy desk chair}- it's pretty well set up ergo wise I think. Arms/desk/chair/monitor height, footrest etc.
I can tilt chair back and put legs up on the desk for a change if I'm just surfing around and not typing anything.

Hi Cyndy,

I use both... But when I can't sit in the chair any longer.. I have a lap board for my laptop and a wonderful wireless Logitech ergonomic mouse http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mi...s/130&cl=us,en an ergonomic bead wrist rest and I prop a soft pillow under my elbow and forearm.. Believe me this makes a huge differance. Then I can get comfey in my bed with all my pillows, watch TV and surf the internet...

&
Dawn

Default Recliner

My comfort is the recliner, with a laptop. I have a COOL PAD, it sits under the laptop and has two fans to keep the heat from building up under the computer. I have a [illow under my arms, I use a infra red wired mouse, no batteries to run down is why. I also have at times, use that couch or bed tray for the laptop and use an auxillary key board on my lap. Then my neck does not look downward.

THen too ahve dragon, but use it for work and not so much the INternet.
try to find a local OT that does outfit for carpal tunnel. My office of voc rehab had someone come down to their office and lots of mouse rollers, tackballs, computers and keyboards for me to be out fitted for my system.

I was able to work with the items and try what seemed best for me. I did not like the trackball, as I was too use to a mouse, but did feel well with the infra red, no ball in the mouse. Also, gel werist supports and put the muse on the pad part of that.
