Hi all,
Just wanted to ask how other people's Angiograph was carried out. I had mine with contrast, but both scans were performed with my arms in a downward position over the front of my body! This doesn't make sense to me... Surely the affected arm needs to be raised above head to show if veins / arteries are being compressed? Along the same lines, the test with the Doppler and blood pressure cuff did not show anything - but my arms were not placed above my head at anytime? Anyone else think this is wrong? I will never get a diagnosis if they don't do the tests right.... Thanks ![]() |

Did the dr ordering the tests suspect TOS , or just was doing a basic test for generic reasons..
I think they should have done arms down & arms up.. but an arms down indicator would be more serious - like possible full time blood flow restrictions vs only when arms raised.. You can use our site search tool for test keywords, symptoms and such to find past posts or threads mentioning those.. https://www.neurotalk.org/search.php I haven't had that test but my chiro , PTs & primary did see my " white hands" and loss of coordination after a minute of raised while making gripping motions and then flushing when lowered. The stick em up test LOL Sometimes you have to mention things or ask to get best care.. and some won't like you knowing too much on a subject, but it's your life & your health..learn as much as you can..

Hi Jo,
Yeah the vascular consultant knew it was suspected TOS, The Neurologist had referred me as he rejected NTOS but felt there could be VTOS. The tests were done at the same hospital, but it wasn't till after they had been done that I saw and read about the arms up bit! Doh! My hands do the old numb and flush too, but I haven't been given the opportunity yet to show anyone. Our good old NHS is a wonderful thing don't get me wrong, but sometimes it feels like you are in a revolving door - in and out in minutes. You are spot on about learning as much as you can, I am learning loads so that I'm armed and ready for my next appointment! Thanks for the advice ![]() |
