Has anyone tried the Gonstead method for chiro care? I am going to try this starting tomorrow. The Doc stated that he has treated patients with TOS in the past with good results.

My chiro was Gonstead trained, plus he had additional knowledge, skills, techniques & used pain/discomfort relieving PT modalities as needed.
(Ultrasound, low level laser, IF stim, manual trigger point release.) It was a very positive help for me. He also is a long time chiropractor and very experienced, with a gentle technique. No fast grabbing and popping ever- always located the precise place and took time to makes sure before the adjustment.. But just like anything, there can be good practitioners and not so good...it's not always the title or label or technique - it is the person themselves that matters the most. And that's what each of us has to assess and decide for ourselves.

Thanks Jomar, I seen him today for xrays and just exam. Tomorrow first adjustment and he said it is very gentle technique and precise locations. He said after initial exam that the spine looked good, but a lot of muscle spasms in neck and back.

I'll be interested to hear more about this. The description "the spine looked good, but a lot of muscle spasms in neck and back" describes me.

Also, I forgot to ask: What attracted you to the Gonstead method? Or is it that you sought out a chiro and that is what he practices.
Thanks. |

It went well. It is gentle and he stated that he has treated others with TOS. After 2nd adjustment there has been some relief. I was told about this method from a person at my church. She has all kinds of neck issues and started with this Chiro last month. So far so good, I go again tomorrow which is a good thing cause the weather changed here in Ohio and I have been hurting all day.

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear about your weather-based flare up. Did the temps go up or down? Did it get more or less damp? Or maybe I could just ask, how did it change?

I had a very good adjustment today and I feel a lot better. I also had ART done which the left side was extremely tight. I still feel good 3 hrs after the session, but will just have to wait and see how long it last. This has been the longest yet. I even drove longer than normal and cut up a couple of peppers when I got home. Will definitely be taking it easy the rest of day. My consultant called today and said pension board delayed my disability case and wants to send me to another doc for evaluation of TOS. The last doc rated it low and rated my MS at 0. The doc only lifted my right arm three times and said he was losing pulse before shoulder height. Go figure
