I went to the dentist and I have a real bad abcess...he said the root is broke..this is from the car accident. I had oral surgery in 2006 after my car accident for another took same problem. He said this was caused by the air bag hitting me in the face.

So I am on antibiotics and as soon as they get the approval from the car insurance he will give me IV sedation and do surgery on this tooth. He said there is a bad area on the other side of my mouth also but he wants to do one thing at a time because of the bad infection.

oh my goodness what a mess. I imagine it has been like this for quite some time! I hope the antibiotics take some of the pain and pressure of infection away. Hope your healing is speedy and your damn ins. co. pays up sooner than later.

love and hugs,
Victoria

My dentist went off on my claims adjuster yesterday because the approval for the antibiotics hasn't come through yet.she denied the approval until she get's medical necessity report from my dentist..he hit the roof..he said she can't deny medical treatment..

The girl at the office told me she heard him saying her infection is going through her bone into her eye...I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to hear the conversation and see her reaction. She is brand new to the company and the thing is she isn't a nurser or a doctor and she makes these medical decisions...that just isn't right....

That makes me so mad!!! But it sounds like you are in good hands tho with your dentist. I'm glad he will fight for you... it makes me wonder if he'd be willing to work with you on a lien if your situation is that dire. I wish I was well versed in liens and how to go about it...

Well I finally got the approval to get the prescription filled. I've been taking it 4 x a day, it is Amoxicillen 500 mg. I am allergic to just about every other antibiotic there is. So it's doing a number on my tummy....glad it's just for one week. I haven't noticed any change yet in my mouth, but I am hoping it will help.

Once the amoxicillan gets that infection under control will you be going for your surgery? Is it a root canal procedure or something more complex due to the amount of damage?

The root of the tooth is cracked because of the air bag hitting me in the face in the car accident. He will actually pull that tooth. Because I am such a big baby he puts me to sleep with IV sedation. I have all bridge work so he will redo the bridge work also.

This was the same thing on the other side of my mouth also, he did that surgery right after my accident.

He also said I have another one on the other side but he will do that after I heal from this surgery. Because they are on different sides of my mouth he doesn't want to do them both at the same time.

The roof of my mouth is still swollen. I went yesterday for my teeth cleaning and the girl said most people have the swelling on the outside of their face but mine is on the inside of my mouth. It is a weird feeling because your tongue keeps going to that lump in your mouth. I've been on the antibiotic 5 days now and I hope it's working.
