I got a question that I would like to have answered if possible. I have been going over all my medical records again for the umpteenth time. The records before the surgeries and post surgical. I have looked at all the surgical notes and everything.. Everything seems to be there except this time i found something that i kept over looking..

The surgical notes are in great order and tell everything that was done. Right down to the amount of rib removed from each side amount of anestisia used vitals everything...ok now comes the question..
No where in any of the notes is there a mention of having the scalenectomy done. Is it possible if this was not done that i could be causing some of my arm and neck pain along with headaches still.

Ortho drs. have already ruled out anything wrong in the shoulder. other emg/ncvs have ruled out more compressions with the exception of possible ulner compression... If the scalenectomy wasn't performed could this also cause the winging scapula and popping sound that i hear all the time..

Just some things that i have finally started to find in my med. records that i kept over looking. any help would be appreciated...

That sounds like a Beth question to me. For some reason, my surgeon (annest) could only remove a small portion of my scalenes. Just FYI.

Dimarie or ginneybean might have an idea - I know ginneybean did have the winging scap & a surgery to repair it.
she hasn't posted for about a month or 2 i think.

we have many of the old anatomy links in the stickys up above if that might help to track it down.

I can't recall if any of the scalenes would affect the scap nerve { can't recall the name of that nerve either}

I Don't Know About The Winged Scapula And Shoulder, But Yes, If Part Of The Scalene Muscles Were Not Removed, There Is Still Compression. Thus, More Headaches, Etc. Correct Me If I Am Wrong, But The Scalene Muscles Attach To The First Rib.....dr. Saxton Is Now Asking Dr. Ahn To Perform His Surgeries Above The Collar Bone And Under The Arm Pit As A Means For Releasing The First Rib And All Of Or Most Of The Scalene Muscle. Dr. Saxton Is A Neuro Who Works With Dr. Ahn, Vascular Surgeon At Ucla. I Am Still Having Some Problems Since My Surgery, And She Stated That My Scalene Muscles May Have Formed Fiberous Tissues Around The Nerves And Arteries.....however, Post Surgery, My Headaches Have Decreased By 85%.
