Default I think I'm stretching incorrectly.. advice?

Ok i've had sharon butlers TOS program for a while. I got her book too.

Now whats confusing is that her book focuses on a tiny stretch, that u hold for 10-15 seconds until it releases.

But her online program only tells u to keep the stretch in the mild to moderate range... And then she tells you how long to hold each stretch.

I'm confused, because I know more stretching is not better. I think i am overstretching my neck muscles through sharons program.

I need advice on how to stretch properly. My neck muscles are very difficult for me to release, and I'm wondering what the best way to approach them is. If i can get my scalenes to release, then I will be greatly relieved of symptoms.

I've gotten many other areas to release, but my scalene muscles I don't really know how to release...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just want to be a normal college student...
