Scientists have made another huge leap in the science of stem cells. They found a way to bypass a very complex step in the process of turning cells from one type into another, e.g. turning skin cells into nerve cells. Before this discovery, it was thought that the cells had to go through a very complex process to be turned into nerve cells. Now, they have discovered that these steps can be bypassed, which makes the whole process a lot easier. This discovery is huge because it gets them one giant step closer to using stem cells to find a cure for brain injuries.
