Hi Gang,
Does anyone know if a tbi could cause someone to vomit incessantly in the aftermath of the injury? Cheers |

Yes. I heaved non-stop while in the hospital with a fractured skull.
The year being 1966 in a rural hospital they just let me retch and gave no meds or IV fluids. I couldn't even keep a sip of water down. This resulted in dehydration and made my splitting headache (pun intended) a great deal worse. To this day I shudder at the sight of orange jello. That was the first solid food I could keep down but it took another couple days before it stayed down. I rather hope treatment of a fractured skull has improved since then. |

Thanks for the reply - it confirmed what I've suspected. The doctors have been blaming it of anything and everything else. Alas, understanding of this issue hasn't improved since 1966.

Hi Hockey
I vomitted for 2 days after writing my car off in 1977 - had a fractured jaw, broken teeth and was sent home from hospital after about 24 hours - so I have been told - I don't remember anything! Now I vomit non stop when I have over exercised - such joy!!!! Lynlee |

I read a story...maybe on here...about a mother whose son had no symptoms of concussion other than nausea and vomitting. He went from specialist to specialist for gastric testing. He was lucky finally have a conversation with a resident who was taking routine medical history and clued in to the "minor" concussion he had sustained prior to these symptoms beginning.
This led to ENT assessment and others, found that head injury was root cause of gastric problems. |
