Mike,

You likely have a very toxic or polluted brain. You need to get some good nutrition going for your brain so it can purge the toxins and start to heal. The roommate environment alone is bad for recovery. Do you have a quieter place to stay for a few weeks? Your brain needs a serious break or you will become chronic with your PCS symptoms.

Think of the things you do for the next 6 months as determining the brain health status for the rest of your life. It is important to get your brain healthy.

My best to you.

Some research has suggested that a single cup of coffee per day is OK and may be good. If you notice a problem, listen to your body and brain and try going without. Caffeine excites the brain cells. This may not be good in your individual situation. It can also raise your pulse and blood pressure. Too much caffeine can be a problem. A single serving is more likely just a momentary upset, not a damaging event.

I will enjoy a large glass of Dr Pepper once in a while. I just accept that I will pay for the enjoyment. Same goes for my use of Levitra. I enjoy it for the moment but know that I will pay for the enjoyment for the next 24 hours.

Each brain is individual. It is good to understand how you brain is responding. If this turns out to be how your brain responds to caffeine, you can use this information. If you are having a bad day, you might look back to see if maybe you had caffeine without knowing it. It is surprising what has caffeine in it.

My best to you.

Default Month Later

Well a month later and I am still experiencing symptoms, its hard to say if it is getting better or not but I THINK there is some improvement. I do have to participate in lifting at work which I find can aggravate my symptoms and make me feel very dizzy at times. I have been seing a chiropractor for the last few weeks because of a very stiff neck and shoulders, she says that my vertabre are very out of line in my neck? ive been like 8 times and nothing has really benefited me.

Im starting to do some yoga for my neck and back and am hoping that this will help relieve some of my symptoms (im basically hoping yoga will clear all of my PCS) lol ive also started trying to use a foam pillow because I have been getting bad neck pain in the morning. Has anyone tried the yoga and had any success? I did try and drink on the weekend but that really messsed me up for monday.....not being able to have a couple drinks is killing me. However the one positive I can take away from all of this is the less partying may have impacted my 18 percent increase in my total school average.....maybe grad school is possible! Anyways I want to be able to workout more then anything and of course party. Hopefully Yoga will cure all of my problems and will be the magic cure for everyones PCS. IM just trying to stay positive but have noticed many ups and downs with my mood, especially in relation with the weather.

Thanks for Listening, Michael

When I was starting to feel better approximately two weeks later I was struck in the head by a hockey stick and had to receive 4 staples for my head. Again I was out for about a week with symptoms which seemed to go away. After this week I was able to work out, go to the gym party etc. After 2 weeks of heavy studying and exams I partied hard 4 days in a row, after this I thought I had cold symptoms as my entire body was feeling like crap. I continued to exercise and hang party as if it was nothing but a cold. However over my christmas break I experienced brutal symptoms of dizzyness and nausea I spent my entire christmas day in a hospital for 5 hours watching star wars because I couldn't open a damn present. My doctor told me I would need to stop drinking and rest as much as I could for my symptoms. Its tough because people who have never had a concussion dont understand what it is like, they think you are a wuss and are just being "soft". The last 2 months have been the most stressfull of my life with school work, my roomates party 3 nights a week which makes it very hard not to drink alcohol. I wont have a drink for a month feel slightly better then fall off the wagon and get back with my symptoms. The last couple Months I have felt depressed and have had very weird thoughts about life and other subjects. It sucks cuz I need to be better within the next month to make money for school at my summer job. Im tired of this **** I cant do anything cant exercise, play hockey, can barely play video games and stress harder then ever in all of my classes. Ive already told myself im not going to have a drink for the next month but who knows if doing any of this will make my damn symptoms go away.

Thanks for listening, Mike

Hi blackzest,

Reading your posts on here has been a massive boost in my own struggle with this PCS thing. I got sucker punced during a heated argument in mid May. I never thought much of it until the symptoms came on over the next few days, progressing from blurred vision, headache, body temperature changes, moods, apathy and progressing to anxiety brought on by my condition and because of the worry that something was wrong. Then the depression, sadness set in. I've had issues with loss of sensation, pins and needles and cold hands and feet.

I'm just past the two month mark and seeing some improvements finally. I've been joking with my girlfriend today after a rough few days, seems I'm finally coming out of this thing. I hope to God that's the case.

I thought if there was anyone on here I felt I could reach out to it was you. You seem like such a helpful guy after what you came through. The main question really would be did you go through any of the coldness, poor sensations of touch, etc? If so, how did they improve over time? I really feel I'm finally getting somewhere with this and can finally have a smile on my face again. I just want to get back to my old self asap.

Thanks man, your posts have been a massive inspiration.
