Sleep however long your brain needs. If you are getting good REM sleep, the shorter times can be enough. If you are not getting good sleep, you will become sleepy during the day even if you wake up naturally after 7 or 8 hours. The quality of sleep is the important issue, not the hours of sleep.

oh my god i agree with that comment....quality sleep. I just lay there in a weird half asleep state when i can't sleep and its pointless. I am so tired sometimes I don't even want to talk. Even the anxiety meds don't work sometimes to help me sleep,

For some reason I have a hard time figuring out if I am stressed and/or have anxiety. I dont know if i deny it because I dont think i do have any stress or anxiety. Or I just dont really if it is stress or anxiety becasue i have dealt with it for awhile. Sometimes I think i do and sometimes i think i dont. Im going to a check up with my specialist tomorrow for the second time and want to try and make this clear as possible for them and myself....any thoughts or advice???
Thanks |

curious - when you guys say you have headaches after exercising, what does it feel like?
Did any of you have them simply from walking a few feet in the beginning? I wanted to be sure we are talking about the same thing. Did it take weeks to get to the point of just walking around without symptoms returning? Also, you guys talk about symptoms "returning." I have a constant feeling in my brain that is unpleasant. It has not for a second gone away. Were you like that in the beginning too or did it come and go? Mine is a dull ache mixed with a prickly/stinging feeling in my brain - all around it. It's not a migraine at all. I've had those in my life and this is so so much better. Thank god, I haven't had any of those. I don't think I could deal with one of those and this at the same time. : ) Is this all very similar to your stories 3 weeks into injury? thanks again. |

Freezer, I have the same dull ache in my head that you seem to be experiencing. I don't have the tingling but the ache, like yours, never leaves. I also get migraine headaches although they seem to be less frequent than the first two months.
As for the other symptoms after walking, yes I've had dizziness, nausea, increase in head pain, increase in blurry vision and feeling dazed - Now, when I was 3 weeks into my injury I experienced these symptoms everyday without walking and still do today although they have become weaker and less frequent (I am now going on 3 months). I have only tried a slow walk about 3 times because I was going nuts at home doing nothing. My doctor reminds me to only try something new when I am symptom free. One day at a time... |

Thanks. No meds. I'm not taking anything whatsoever for anything.
I guess it's just a waiting game. Sigh. |

I've had a few migraines before, those were a cake walk by comparison. At first these headaches diminished within 2 to 3 days. 5 day was the worst. They used to come on fairly quickly - within 3 hours - and were accompanied by cognitive fog. Now, they come on within a day and last about 6 to 12 hours. I'm presently on 75mg of Nortriptyline for headache and emotional soothing (those headaches were worrying me and kicking my *****) and if I know a headache is coming on I can take an Amerge or Frova (not sure on the dose). They help keep the headache to a minimum, and next day they they've generally cleared. The other symptoms when this started were: mental fog, dizziness, mental fatigue, difficulities with short term memory, executive processing difficulities. These particular symptoms were experienced even without exercise. It sucks when part of your brain knows that the other parts are lagging. Find calmness where you can and let the healing take its course. Mike |
