Default having a hell of a time.

Well I am having a hell of a time. I got my second sports concussion within less then two months. I was playing a.sport hot a concussion in March I was only out for like 10 seconds. After 5 weeks I hot cleared to play then at the end of April I got another one and was out cold for about 30 sec and then in and out for about a min or so I was told. Well of course I have had headaches, dizziness, nausea, light sensitivity, head pressure, and just not feeling well. I also can't remember crap. I am going on ny third week now and still can't do normal activity. I tried to drive on the highway and when I got to my destination I felt bad. My head hurt worse and I felt dizzy and overstimilated.
And my emotions are so out of whack.
What to do? I am very frustrated at this point. I am under the care of a great doc. All my test score on my Impact are very low. Lower then my 1st concussion. I am having a rough time.

Am I the only one that has an issue with driving? Last time I was driving by now. And the overstimalation is bad. What if anything can I do? I know about rest but damn how much rest does one person need? This one feels far worse then last time. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

You have suffered a serious concussion. The length of and repeating of LOC (Loss of Consciousness) suggests that your brain is very unstable.

Keep in mind that if you were clear to return to play, the only value of being cleared is that you have regained enough function to not cause an added risk to yourself due to coordination and reaction times. It has no bearing on the ability of your brain to endure another impact.

You are now living with Multiple Impact Syndrome.

Your ImPACT scores are meaningless in my opinion. They do not tell you that you have healed. They just say what your cognitive functions and reaction times are compared to previous ImPACT tests. You may have injured a different part of your brain that was injured less severely in March. ImPACT is better than nothing but severely lacking IMO.

You need to seriously consider making some drastic changes to your risky activities.

A problem with highway driving is the speed at which the road is passing by and the double speed of the vehicles in the opposing lanes. If you focus on the road farther away from your car, you may do better. My concern is whether you can be a safe driver.

I have done very little highway driving in the past 10 years. My non-highway driving is usually limited to 40 mph or less. Driving at night is much less of a problem due to the darkness limiting my visual stimulation to the area lit by my head lights.

I have had to learn to focus away from the car when I am riding and my wife is driving. If I try to focus too close to the car, I get overwhelmed and fatigued.

Xoe22, If you plan on returning to play, I suggest you fill out an Advanced Medical Directive sometimes called a Living Will. You need to decide what you want done for medical care if you become unable to respond to the doctors. I would not leave the decision making up to health care professionals.

Exactly how I felt. I was only out for maybe half a second and I barely hit my head at all but we have the same symptoms. It took me over a month to settle down and realize I was really badly hurt. By then I'd wasted a lot of time when I should have been resting. In fact, I went to work the day after the concussion even though I was confused out of my mind. I just had no idea.

You need cogitive rest and physical rest.

I am a triathlete for hobby and I've put it off for an entire year. That's a bold statement of how I'm doing. It's not good and it's worth the time to heal. So far I haven't gone nuts. (so far.)
