Default anyone have success with topomax for pcs?

My dr suggested this -- and I will be seeing him again this week. We didn't try it as I had an allergic reaction to dilantin and figured we would try the antidepressant route before another seizure med first.

Anyone have any improvements with Topomax?

I just finished getting off of Topomax. It messed with my mind in weird ways. I would have the sensation that my hands and jaw were 50 times bigger. It was a strange mind trip that I could feel coming on but couldn't stop. I also had tingling/pins and needles in my hands and feet.

All of this I reported to my neurologist who said that it was normal with this med. I put up with it for over a year and half but while trying to get my mind to work normal again the "trips" were messing me up more than I could stand anymore.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Are you having seizures?

What is your doctor hoping to treat with Topomax or the previous Dilantin?

I think his thought was to "calm" the brain with seizure meds.

No,..not having seizures -- but I have this constant vibration in my head.

Be careful with Topomax! This is one of the drugs that is potentially causing "chemo brain" or "chemo fog" in cancer survivors. The drug is linked to decreased attention and memory- something people with PCS don't need any more trouble with!

Default tried it too

Hello,

I also tried Topomax and had bad side effects.

I felt the effects right away.

Main one-

It is hard to think. Sounds silly but the words just wouldn't come.

If you do try this ... My neurologist said to drink Sports Drinks all day. You may feel tingles in your hands and feet.

Read these testimonials and decide for yourself.
