Had RT hip arthroscopy surgery May 26th. Had to have it done been dealing with pain in hips for over 2 and a half years. Was starting to feel better from pcs before surgery. Now feel just as bad as before with pcs. Hopefully i don't have to start over again. Just so fatigued. Walking on crutches. Need to be on crutches for 5-8 weeks after surgery(not fun). Do you think this will pass or have to start all over again?
Thanks Pete

Pete,
I have never had surgery with PCS, however, I know that stress to my body triggers my PCS back to the beginning. From what I've read, people who are put under for surgery and have PCS may struggle a little. However, hopefully someone who has had this experience will be able to answer your question with more personal experience and evidence. Best to you in healing your hip and your brain |

Gail Denton, the author of Brainlash, talks a bit about this in the introduction to her book. She says that each use of general anesthetics made her more sensitive and expanded the amount of overall cognitive recovery time (this was years after her original and subsequent MTBIs). She recommends working with medical staff to monitor and adjust the application of general anesthesia and using local anesthetic when possible.
