Default Flying/Traveling with PCS

I have read some of the previous posts on this topic, but wondered what other tips people have or experiences that helped them travel more easily.

I have been starting to feel better, but still have sensory overload and fatigue (insomnia as well). It's been 18 months since my accident and I've been getting out more, but still lead a "minimal" life. We have a vacation planned with a large group and it's a good opportunity to travel with someone else handling all the details. This is an overseas trip to Spain.

This is what I have so far planned:

Bose noise canceling headphones AND earplugs

Asking Airline for assistance in better seating and easier boarding (is this ok to ask of them even though I am not considered "disabled"?)

Rest as soon as we are able to get into our room (we get to our destination in the morning and cannot get a room until the afternoon)

Taking a sinus med that will make me sleepy on the plane and keep my head more clear (if this works, it has helped me traveling pre PCS)

Have Klonopin with me for back up in case of anxiety

Anything else that I may be missing, I am over concerned!?

Are you leaving soon? Can you take a shorter "test flight" before you go to see how you manage? I've been wondering about plane travel too. I'm not going anywhere for the next few months, but I would like to start with a very short flight to see how things go.

I leave on Wed. I remember now thinking I should have tried that a month or so ago, but was focused on getting well enough for this trip. I canceled a trip earlier in the year because I could feel that I was not ready, symptoms were worse back then. I have cut back on my activities since then and noticed improvement with rest and keeping things simple. I am not even working as much right now as I used to.

A vacation feels like a great idea after all I have been through, but not if it triggers a relapse. It may go great, but I want to be overprepared, hoping that it's unnecessary.

Default anti-nausea

The list sounds great. I hope that you don't experience headaches while flying. One thing that I reccommend is an anti-nausea med. I was surprised at how nauseated I was on a flight. Zofran which helps immensely. Best wishes!

Default I flew recently

I have had PCS for just over two months now and I flew a couple weeks ago. I was somewhat concerned about the change in pressure and was armed with amitriptyline, but I had no problem at all!! Maybe I was just lucky! Opinions??

I just got back from a cross country trip and flight. I made sure to have my meds, i wore an eye mask to block the light, made sure my neck was secure with a sleep pillow, had and ipod to listen to if other noises annoyed me, and premedicated with pain medicine. I did pretty good. I also went to Disney World with a 2 year old, so i think my pure exhaustion afterwards has more to do with that than the flight it self.
