Default Hello - hopefully i can help

Hi everyone
I'v been a lurker on these forums for some time now; searching endlessly for a quick fix for my pcs. It's time to join up as a member.

July 23, 2012 I was in a car accident that caused me to bang my left side of my head on the window of my car leaving me with a concussion. Even though i still have persisting symptoms there was no loss of concsiousness and mri came out clean. 11 days later on the Fourth of July a cop unlawfully arrested me (mistook me for someone robbing cars) and demonstrated police brutality by slamming my head onto the hood of his car. My concussion went from being bad to unbearable. I started having way more symptoms but the one that stuck out the most was the tension migraines.

I could easily sue the living s**t out of the police department, but i don't want to ruin anyone career/life. The police force thought i was, "faking it" and wouldn't bring me to the hospital. When they found the real thief they instantly released me and brought me to the hospital. It was a very messed up situation. . Wish i could remember more of it however.

Basically, i tried taking it easy as much as i could but its been pretty hard. My dad is a real big tough guy and forces me to do manual labor as much as he can. As far as he is concerned I'm faking all my concussion symptoms so i don't have to work. Its pretty ridiculous i could talk all day about it.

So now I'm being forced to work 6 hour manual labor days less than 2 months into pcs. Ive looked for every single quick fix under the sun and i really can't find too much except for one supplement: Magnesium. Magnesium is the only thing that has made these 6 hour work days possible.

Every day i take:
Magnesium taurate
Carnitine
Lions Mane
Multi Vitamin
C0q10
Fish oil - use to take super doses 10g a day during my first two weeks but now its only a gram or 2 a day

The second i started taking magnesium the tension migraines i suffered went away instantly. From what i have read magnesium and calcium have a see saw relationship in your brain. Calcium mediates the release of glutamate. When calcium is high magnesium is low and a over abundance of glutamate is released and this excess glutamate causes excito-toxictiy.

The extra release of glutamate usually isn't too much of a problem but when a person has a concussion theyre brain goes haywire and releases a cascade of glutamate damaging a considerable amount of neurons in the impact area. These damaged neurons try to heal and will do so. However when a persons brain is releasing more glutamate caused from an over abundance of calcium, excite-toxicity persists on neurons that are already damaged by major excito-toxicity, slowing down the healing process and causing many extra symptoms i.e. tension headaches. I would recommend Magnesium Taurate for the taurine in it also helps with glutamate excito-toxicity and as a added fun fact 90 percent of the us population does not consume enough magnesium.
