Default Kinda scared about something...

Months after my injury, I suddenly developed this sort of...disorder where if I tilt my head down, I get an electric shock/vibrating feeling throughout my body. I've told multiple doctors I've seen since the injury about it, and they really can't tell me much about it. One doctor told me it should get better with time, that I might move my neck a certain way and it'll pop and suddenly be fixed...

So I started doing research online and this is what I found:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lhermitte's_sign

I guess what I have is Lhermitte's sign. The reason that scares me is it says that its a classic finding in Multiple Sclerosis patients.

Do any of you have this problem?

A lot of symptoms of MS are similar to the symptoms of PCS and TBI's..so it's got me freaking out.

There are large areas of overlap between MS, Lupus, encephalitis, neck injuries and concussion. Tell the neurologist or a doctor who specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. PM&R docs can be a good try for concussion too.

And, stop trying to self diagnose. The anxiety it causes is not good for your brain. Let the doctors do the diagnosing.

Your symptoms are classic symptoms of L'Hermittes Sign so I think you are correct in your self diagnosis, but please know that MS is not the only condition in which it presents. For example....have you have your Vit B12 checked? L'Hermitte's is a symptom of low B12. Also, have you ever had a neck injury? There's plenty of literature about so have a read, but remember that MS is not the only cause.

Quote:
.... Although often considered a classic finding in multiple sclerosis, it can be caused by a number of conditions, including transverse myelitis, Behçet's disease, trauma, radiation myelopathy, vitamin B12 deficiency (subacute combined degeneration), and compression of the spinal cord in the neck from any cause such as cervical spondylosis, disc herniation, tumor, and Arnold-Chiari malformation.

If you're not happy to wait as your doctor suggests, would you consider a chiro or a physiotherapist?
