Default neurologist?

Hi. I'm new to this but have been reading posts on & off since finding this site months ago. You were a life saver when I found this site! Just knowing I'm not alone and even though no one around me really understands, you do!

Was just wondering about the importance of seeing a neurologist? I mean, can they actually do anything to help?

A brief outline of my story: Came off a horse headfirst into cement (no helmet) about 2 1/2 yrs ago. Didn't get diagnosed until the beginning of this year. Several months ago was starting to feel a big improvement (many ups & downs along the way), then almost 2 months ago I got worse again & now it's like I'm slowly sliding downhill & can't do anything about it. I'm pretty sure the trigger this last time was that I pushed myself too hard trying to get some exams done (I study by correspondance, so can do it in my own time). I was surprised I was able to, normally my brain just shuts down and refuses to work! I'm also working part-time (about 1 day a week now) & have just had 2 1/2 weeks off and still don't think I can handle going back. Have been doing very little since it worsened. Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks for all your support, even when you didn't know you were giving it!
