Very new to posting in this format - I had a slip and fall accident resulting in a concussion on 11/4/2011. Persistent headaches, blurry vision, brain fog ever since. Post Concussion Syndrome with PTSD diagnosed. Feels like headaches will never end. Dr. has me on enough medications, anti inflammatory, pain, depression, headaches but little seems to work. Most is some relief - taking the edge off the pain to make it somewhat tolerable. In the state of mind where I really don't know what to do next...

EJ,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. Your head aches and other symptoms sound normal for PCS. What is the PTSD diagnosis about? What drugs does your doctor have you on? PCS can be difficult but with a wild mix of drugs, it can be difficult to tell the PCS symptoms from the drug side-effects. Are you doing anything with diet and nutrition to help your brain? Also, are you avoiding caffeine, alcohol and MSG? What kind of doctor are you seeing? My best to you.

I'm not the one with the concussion (but I'm certain from the last 4 months the symptoms are contagious LOL) BUT I cannot find the "signature" section. anyone point me in the right direction?
Hope I did not offend anyone with my initial comment, none meant! I just haven't had a full night's sleep or needed answers myself and am mentally exhausted. |

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI. Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain. Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms. Slowly but surely regaining my life back. |

I think it is a great idea, and I am overwhelmed by the terrible, sometimes so 'trivial' or random things that have happened to people and the terrible suffering as a result. I was unable to write for over a year, but read a lot of these posts, which were so helpful. I can write now but I think there is an emotional trauma in putting it all down on paper! I will do that, though, as soon as I can!
