Just got a trial of imitrex for my headaches. If I take it when I feel a headache coming on, it seems to prevent it from getting worse. Does make me a little sleepy right after I take it, though.
This is the first non-narcotic med I've had that has helped my headache pain when I actually have a headache coming on. The amitriptyline has helped decrease the frequency but I still do get them pretty regularly. I guess it is typically used for migraines, so if you have migraine-like headaches, can't hurt to ask your doctor about it. Anyway, it works for me! Just thought I'd mention it in case it might help someone else.
