I don't get it very often, but soemtimes, I get the feeling that my brain is "buzzing" or vibrating very quickly... It starts inside my skull, near the brain stem, and I feel very woozy and a bit out of it when it happens... should I be worried?

When resting, symptoms are low. With exertion, I still suffer from fatigue, migraines, vision problems, problems thinking or reading, troubles sleeping, issues finding or getting words to my mouth when the headaches are bad, tinnitus, and thyroid issues which I think are due to the concussion. Seen one specialist, and now a few others through insurance review of my case. Hoping for further treatment. |

Just to clarify, it's not just a "oh my brain feels weird" kind of buzzing, I literally feel my brain shaking at the brain stem.... I had this happen this morning, and I went from feeling pretty decent, to a bad headache brewing, and a huge foggy feeling coming over me, and way more lethargic than I was before...
Not sure if its related or not, but sometimes, it feels like every nerve in my body is firing at the same time. It only lasts a moment, but it's pretty overwhelming, almost like being lit on fire for a moment.

Well, It's now late day, and I am still feeling horrible. IT was a very sudden turn around from before the buzzing to after... I am concerned, but don't want to over react... haven't been to the doctors yet, but just wondering what you would do... I am having issues getting thoughts started... once I do I am ok, but I suddenly lose a train of thought and spend many minutes trying to get it back...

I can't tell you what you should do, but if you're really worried you should get looked at just for peace of mind. Might reduce the anxiety. Honestly when I feel worse than "normal" I just go lay down in a dark room and try to sleep. For me the more I think about it and stress about it the worse my symptoms seem to get. My life is such that I always spend much time alone, but I know since my injury spending time alone is different. So much more inside myself and aware of things my body is doing or not doing, hyper sensitive almost. Not saying it is like that for you or anything just that it is like that for me. *big calming hugs to you* let us know how it goes! Starr |

Hi camyam...i am still a new member so I dont have any advice, unfortunately, but hoping you ended up feeling better? I have never had the brainstem shaking that you described but have had uncontrolled shakining of my entire body before (but not seizures)...i had to wait it out (which im sure is not the solution you were looking for im sure). Keep me posted on what you ended up having to do! (i also suggest the dark room if you can...even earplugs help me center even when there is no noise...weird) good luck...!

Camyam,
When my injury first occured, December of 2011, I had a low pitched "buzzing" in the low part of my head, as well as the high pitched "ringing" or tinnitus. It was hard to explain the low pitched buzzing, but I felt like it had to do with blood flow in some way, even though my blood pressure at that point was normal, the noise just sounded like fluid being restrained through a medium, and the vibration it would make. I don't know if that makes sense, it's still a sketchy description, but no matter, it did go away; the only symptom that has gone away so far. I don't know if this is the same thing you are experiencing or not, but I imagine that the best thing you can do is rest, stay away from caffeine and alcohol, and see a specialist as you say you are. |

Thanks guys. A couple of naps and by the end of the day I was feeling improved... It was pretty scary though, to see such an instant turn around in how I was feeling... And when I googled it, it was linking to tinitus, which I have and it def was not that, or to migraines, or to seizures.... It's something I'll have to bring to my physiatrist when I finally get in to see him.

I feel so bad for you. For you all, actually. I definitely emphasis--see wrong word--do it all the time in writing and verbal. I definitely empathize (hope that's right) with you all. I think I have had almost everything you spoke of, including the brain stem thing, the exhaustion, the ringing and different tones and different noises--"chink, chink". I pressurize in my brain whenever it feels like it. I have ticks or something in my face I think when I get mad. My eyes are goofy as well as my ears. Those are just some of the physical things related to my PCS. Short term memorh pretty bad. Dreams weird, bad sleep, disorientation, dizziness, muzziness, it goes on and on. Dealing with friends, coworkers and family difficult. Noises can be excrusiating. (See, get close to the right word, but it takes a bit)
Jeepers, this sounds depressing and i don't mean it to. I mean to say that it is a relief to know that there are others out there who understand cause it really is so weird. Some symptoms come and go. I think I just waited too long to take action. Thought I'd tough it out till I got better--I am no longer so tough! <grin> I am new so still type too much. Rest, do stuff like using this forum and soothing music and soothing teas. Don't beat up on yourself. Lots of people get well soon. Peace be with you all. |
