Hey just had a question. Has anyone experienced stomach issues late in the PCS? I have had some really bad stomachaches (along with the bathroom fun that goes along with that) over the past week that have just developed.
However, they only happen at night. And only after I eat dinner. I am 100% absolutely not pregnant, and I wouldve thought if it was the flu I would be feeling this way all of the time. I eat healthy foods; lean meat, veggies, fruit, and stay away from artificial sweeteners, caffeine, etc. Any ideas? Thanks for your time! ![]()

I had stomach issues that started several months after my concussion. I was eating well in general but had a stretch of a month or so where I wasn't eating as well or getting as much fiber. The problem then seemed to recur intermittently over the next few months, and was really annoying and frustrating at times. This symptom seems to have largely resolved (touch wood), although I still watch what I eat.
Things that helped: moderating the amount of food I ate, while still trying to maintain a good diet; temporarily eating more bland foods (and fewer irritating foods - you can google lists of good/bad or more/less digestible foods); drinking a reasonable amount of H2O; making sure I got enough fiber (without overdoing it); chewing my food properly; and adding a good probiotic yogurt (BioK yogurt - Canadian company). Getting some modest exercise (even slow walking) every day also seemed to help. As my stomach improved, I was gradually able to start adding back some of the foods that I had to cut out temporarily. I think the lessening of this symptom was also simply a function of time. |

I think just the mere lack of physical activity is what has upset my stomach for the most part recently.
At first I was on a lot of pain medications and that really wreaked havoc with my body, including a lot of serious stomach issues. I also experience quite a bit of on and off heart burn, but I think that has to do with not being able to be more physically active too. |

I'm now on my third week of mysterious diarrhea (sorry if TMI). No apparent cause.
I've been eating basically BRAT diet for three weeks, drinking gatorade to stay hydrated, and I've also tried two days of activated charcoal, eating cooked persimmons for several days, and now I'm taking a probiotic (Phillips Colon Health) daily. These things seem to be helping make a gradual improvement. Hoping I'll be back to normal soon as my nutrition and hydration (and by extension my exercise and energy levels) have definitely taken a hit.
