Default Going Back to Work and Neuropsych Report.

Yep, you read that right. I got called in for an interview today, for a security job...and it ended up being a sort of "orientation" type thing. I nailed it so well, they called me back for a second interview and I nailed that one too...I GOT THE JOB!!!

I've been doing some spontaneous healing the past week. Its been weird...Its like something clicked overnight and I was functioning well again. Then, I got my neuropsych report back and my IQ was above average. There was things that I did score low with, such as immediate and short term memory and some auditory stuff...but there was lots of things that I scored above average. Most of the high scores were with visual stuff, like visual memory and problem solving...and some motor skill things. Anyways, after I got the report back, my confidence went through the ceiling.

However, due to some of the low scores that I had...I've been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment - secondary to brain injury and two other things. I don't have the actual report in my hands yet. My case manager went over it with me and I'll have a copy to share with you guys next week.

Just thought I'd note, SS did NOT receive a copy of the report and nor will they ever.

So yeah, I'm a little nervous about working 40 hours a week. But, its very low stimulation in a quiet apartment complex and its at night. I won't have to deal with the heat.

Happy healing, Everyone!!!

Nick

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI.

Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain.

Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms.

Slowly but surely regaining my life back.

That... is... FANTASTIC!

Congrats Nick! I know how gratifying it can be to do even just little things.... I did my first photo shoot a couple of weeks ago, and while I struggled head wise after everyone had left, it felt incredible to be productive!!!!

Proud of ya man! Good job! Literally!

Feb 24, 2012 - Slipped on a large puddle of ice at work, hitting the back of my head. No loss of consciousness, so I assumed I'd be back at work within a few days. I was wrong.

When resting, symptoms are low. With exertion, I still suffer from fatigue, migraines, vision problems, problems thinking or reading, troubles sleeping, issues finding or getting words to my mouth when the headaches are bad, tinnitus, and thyroid issues which I think are due to the concussion. Seen one specialist, and now a few others through insurance review of my case. Hoping for further treatment.
