I see an acupuncturist regularly for my PCS headaches that pop up every now and again and i love it! My acupuncturist is also a master herbalist and makes herbs tailored specifically to my current condition and what my assessment is. I have seen a huge difference since i started doing alternative medicine and energy work. Acupuncture is considered an energy therapy as they are working to release congested energy within our bodies energy channels (think veins and arteries that carry blood....also there is an energy system throughout our body called meridians and chakras that carry our vital life force called Chi, or qi or prana).
I also do an energy therapy called Healing Touch which works on same principles of removing congested energy and maintaining a healthy flow of energy through the body. These treatments have been the best i have found in my whole life for pain control and completed changed my recovery dramatically once i started them. I am getting certified in Healing Touch currently so i have a large knowledge base on energy work. As an ICU nurse who is very analytical and science driven....i can say with great confidence that this is the missing piece to the puzzle of medicine that science driven minds miss.
Stick with the acupuncture as long as you are seeing results....your body has a lot of healing to do and this is a very important step that medicine cannot do. The results will take time....many treatments sometimes. Just like medicine will take weeks to reach the right blood levels for anti-depressants, so will the effects of acupuncture. Good luck!

Suffered a TBI with PCS on April 25th 2011 from multiple blows to the head from falling, unconscious for 12 hours with no memory of event. Hit the back of my head, and above right eye. MRI and CT negative. Symptoms included constant headaches (migraine, pressure, tension, icepicks), dizziness, tinnitus, visual changes, photophobia, fatigue, "spacing out", word finding difficulties, depression, and emotional lability.
Began Healing in November 2011 after starting acupuncture and Healing Touch (a nurturing energy therapy that promotes relaxation and pain relief). I went back to work in February 2012. Ive been symptom free since July 2012. Very happy, positive, energetic and working out every day, doing yoga, and living a normal life again!
I also began taking Healing Touch classes in November 2011 and completed 5 Levels of Healing Touch Certificate Program that included a 1 year mentorship to become a Healing Touch International Practitioner in June 2013. I am so pleased to offer this wonderful healing therapy to my patients, friends, and clients.

Shelly,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the herbs. It is encouraging! When I receive the herbs... i will post to see if yours compare. As far as my headache, I have a chronic 24/7 headache since my injury nov 09. So, I am always in pain. I have been diagnosed with chronic migrane, tension and cervical headaches. I have all three all the time.I would at least like to lesson them a few numbers through accupuncture if possible and have the hope of only occasional headaches like others here.

Nightnurse, thank you for posting. I do remember your success with healing touch and am happy to read of your progress!
