Default Hey there (=

Its been awhile since i have gotten back on here, i have been going through doctors quite frequently. At one point im being told that all i have is anxiety and never once had a concussion, yet everything started happening AFTER i was hit...Then when i mention something that sounds abnormal they're more than happy to refer me to a neurologist Lol?

Either way, i called my doctor this morning and asked about a problem i had yesterday morning upon waking up. I woke up in complete dizziness, like when you sit in a computer chair and spin around and around then stop suddenly. Thats how i woke up, just really dizzy and everything was spinning.

It did stop after a minute as i slowly sat up, then afterwards i just had a massive headache and felt nauseous afterwards. Other than whatever that was, it seems like i have been having vertigo pretty much 24/7 when i look at things they sort of "pop out" or have a small spin to it like its moving even though it could be completely still.

I checked my eyes a few days ago and saw that they were constricting and dilating, im not sure how often but i've only checked about 3 or 4 times and every single time i've checked, they were dilated and constricting. It wasnt rapid though.

All of this i have told to my doctor and this is where he finally says "im going to refer you to a neurologist" Yet before her exact words were "i dont think you've ever had a concussion nor would you have Post concussion syndrome unless you lose consciousness upon impact"

I am also being referred to a psychologist to rule out any other possible mental conditions and to make sure all the physical symptoms im having from anxiety is ACTUALLY anxiety and not something else, for example the vertigo and eye dilation, etc.

Im just wondering if any of this could be really serious, and if i should seek urgent care or not. As far as i know i've had the vertigo shortly after being hit . But never have i woken up with the room spinning. And the whole eye dilation and constriction thing is just creeping me out.

All feedback is welcomed and highly wanted. Yes i do know i have an anxiety problem, sometimes bad and sometimes i dont even notice any of my symptoms if im distracted.

Right now im taking ativan twice a day 1mg for anxiety, im supposed to be on paxil but i'd rather not take an ssri until seen by a specialist and if absolutely HAVE to, considering the side effects i was having on the citalopram.

Hi PlasticMonkey...I don't have a lot of experience, but maybe something will help that I say...

I remember reading somewhere that you do not have to lose consciousness in order to have suffered a concussion. I have a friend who suffered whiplash in a car crash and suffered a nasty concussion from it. In fact, I never lost consciousness on my 3 that I experienced, and I can tell you I definitely am suffering from the concussions.

I hope you can find some info to support this!! ( i am not a good web surfer)

I have taken Ativan before, but it had some really gnarly side effects. Do you think the dizziness is compounded by the Ativan? Or is it something that you have been taking for a while now? Just a couple thoughts. I don't know much else, as I am still kinda new-ish to all of this.

Hope you find what you are looking for, and good luck!

Hey Dolfinwolf (= thanks for the reply

Ativan may very well be the cause of the dizziness in the morning, considering something like that is a first for me. But as for the vertigo, i've been experiencing that a few weeks after hitting my head.
Which was on march 2nd of this year. Diagnosed with PCS on march 15th.

I've been taking ativan for close to a month now. Honestly the only thing i have noticed about it, is that it helps with my anxiety A LOT. As for the side effects, i have no idea..i havent really been paying attention to those, i have taken the time to research the side effects for it but i cant remember any of them =/

I can relate what you are going through. Dizziness, Nausea, Headaches etc., For me it changes on a daily basis from mild to moderate to severe. Today is not a good day for me either though I slept very well for about 8 hours. I know in an hour how the day is going to be and no matter what I do, things remain worse.

How long you being taking ativan? You know the problem with Benzos - body get used to it and need more and more and if you don't then symptoms will creep. You should better watch out and go easy on Ativan.

To be honest today I am very tempted to take Xanax (because of terrible symptoms - headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue and I have been fighting not to take. But if it gets worse I don't have an option.

Did you sleep in a bad position which affected inner ear crystals or neck? Any ear problem can affect your vision too. Your body needs more Ativan? I would't recommend to increase Ativan anymore BTW. You already on 2mg/day. I know it is tricky. If it gets worse you better go to ER.

It is common to have effected the inner ear nerves in a cuncussion. Explains dizzines, nauseau and other issues that same nerve is tied into other nerves as well so balance, tintitus. It is also one of the areas that gives Drs, old school an aha moment the noggin got knocked good or bad.

You have explained my exact story!

I have the dizziness, nausea, vertigo room spinning all day like I just got off a roller coaster. Balance problems whenever I stand or walk I have to grab hold of something. Left ear pain with right ear hearing loss

Although I haven't been tested yet by an ear specialist the referral is in the works. My neurologist suggests "Possible Vestibular inner ear trauma" due to the several blows to my head.

I failed the balance test and my eyes had delayed reaction to movement.

Again, it was only a suggestion and haven't gone for testing yet. I'm trying not to worry about it. but, the symptoms are debilitating.

Keep us posted. I'd like to hear what happens as I suffer the same

I forget the exact term but it is not ear damage neccasarily. Think of it this way there are many parts in your head. Eyes, ears, glands, not to mention all the different areas of the brain. Don't forget about your neck.

Cuncussed people frequently are whiplashed also. The point here is, it is the nerves that connect the hairs in your ears, the bones, and the inner ear canal to the brain. Having that system not functioning well causes your brain to become confused by differing inputs. Your inner ear versus your eyes.

The result as you well know is vertigo, naseau, dizziness, headache... I beleive there are medicines for the naseau but also physical therapy to help get everything working together again.

Hope you feel better.
