Question Need some advice please

My accident was end of July.

The specialists do not think my extreme dizzy n sick spells can just be from the brain damage. They think the ligament in my neck is bent or broken. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I am very interested to hear from you. If it is not the ligament in my neck holding my spine still, why do I feel faint, dizzy and sick every time I lie down?

I don't have an answer - but suffer the same symptoms. I did have a pre existing break in my neck and also tissue bulges before my head injury.

How did you manage to see a consultant so soon - i had my injury in January and I am still waiting to see one

When I was admitted and stayed in hospital they said I could go home if I promised to return as an outpatient for my appt. I would have seen the specialist a lot sooner if they kept me in!

They suspected this ligament break when I was first admitted but couldnt get hold of the right person to check me and MRI scans were scarce.

I am so pleased at how seriously they are taking this. Maybe you need to make more fuss!

I have an upper neck injury, too. My experience leads me to believe that when I lay down, unless my neck is in a perfect position, I get inflammation that disrupts the blood flow to my brain. For me, it can cause me to stop breathing. If I try to relax, the apnea creates some strange sensation. I get a strange almost dizzy sensation. When I relax my breathing to fall asleep, I sense the lack of breath and need to breath voluntarily.

If I fall asleep in this poor neck position, I have very stressful dreams. My body may also twitch.

My concern is that the ligaments that connect C-1 to the skull are stretched leaving the joint unstable.

I am glad you have found someone who is looking into your neck. I wish you good fortune to getting worthwhile treatment.
