I created a new thread because I didn't want to detract from the post that Chris4329 created In the thread taking time of work http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread175637.html
Nightnurse30 posted something that really struck a chord when she said "I took 2 months off per his recommendation. I didn't really rest during that time...i spent it trying to do things i couldn't do before or testing myself" and "I finally realized that i was not doing what they said...I was not truly resting" Since my accident I have limited my PC time and stopped doing a lot of the building work that used to occupy my time, did all the other good things - no alcohol and improved my diet. What I have just realised is that I have filled my time with other things - chasing down benefit claims, responding to solicitors letters etc. P.s. thanks to NighNurse for the wake up call I have even tried some of the on line neuropsychology tests to try and analyse what is wrong with me rather than letting nature take its course. Just wonder how many of us have been guilty of doing this?

I am somewhat, but personally, I do not have anyone to look after me or help me with things so if I didn't chase down benefit claims and respond to my solicitor and employers or go online to order food for the week then nothing would ever happen.
I've got another physio appt tonight, be "preparing" all day for it by sleeping ![]() Plus I have to move and haven't even found a place to move to yet. Then when I do I have to think about the 500000+ places i need to notify of my change of address. If I had somebody to help me I would get a lot more rest than I do ![]() |

In light of how many 'new' posters have introduced themselves in just this week, I thought this thread worthy of a bump-up to present.

A month on, I feel a lot better - a few off days but these are getting less and less.

Suffered a TBI with PCS on April 25th 2011 from multiple blows to the head from falling, unconscious for 12 hours with no memory of event. Hit the back of my head, and above right eye. MRI and CT negative. Symptoms included constant headaches (migraine, pressure, tension, icepicks), dizziness, tinnitus, visual changes, photophobia, fatigue, "spacing out", word finding difficulties, depression, and emotional lability. Began Healing in November 2011 after starting acupuncture and Healing Touch (a nurturing energy therapy that promotes relaxation and pain relief). I went back to work in February 2012. Ive been symptom free since July 2012. Very happy, positive, energetic and working out every day, doing yoga, and living a normal life again! I also began taking Healing Touch classes in November 2011 and completed 5 Levels of Healing Touch Certificate Program that included a 1 year mentorship to become a Healing Touch International Practitioner in June 2013. I am so pleased to offer this wonderful healing therapy to my patients, friends, and clients. |

I can empathize with this. I was "off" of work for two and a half weeks, but my monkey brain made it impossible to truly rest. I have since gone back to work super part time and am ramping back up to full time slowly...that seems to help. Now when I am home, I rest. I am still experiencing symptoms, but they are lessening over time thankfully.
