![]() I'm quite surprised at my results, at my age now, and at this age-stage of my injury-&-healing. I'd always been a 'right-brained' person, since university. Now, however, post-tbi/pcs, it seems that I am "58% LEFT brained dominant, and 42% Right brained!! Wow! ![]() So, I propose that we take the test, save it as a doc. on your computer, and enjoy a lively & fun discussion over our results, and how we "see ouselves" pre-injury and then "now"! Best regards, Theta ![]() From the Art Institute of Vancouver: http://www.wherecreativitygoestoscho...ht/rb_test.htm

Very Interesting.
Sadly, I never took one of these before my injury in June 2010, however, I was always considered a Right Brain person, being Left handed and creative - woodetching, colored pencil drawing, some watercolor painting, and I loved fiction reading - particularly fantasy. Now, I find I have no time for anything much but reading a few pages here and there of Fantasy fiction, and usually nod off during that for a short few minute uncomfortable 'nap'; trying to focus to etch or draw is just not possible for headaches, and concentration is always a mess for any of it long term. My results: 53% Left / 47% Right. |

Interesting test. Most of the questions I had a definite 'yes' or 'no' answer to. I especially liked the one about reciting the letters of the alphabet to recall a name. I do that all the time.
Here's my results: Left Brain Right Brain 54% 46% You are more left-brained than right-brained. Your left brain controls the right side of your body. In addition to being known as left-brained, you are also known as a critical thinker who uses logic and sense to collect information. You are able to retain this information through the use of numbers, words, and symbols. You usually only see parts of the "whole" picture, but this is what guides you step-by-step in a logical manner to your conclusion. Concise words, numerical and written formulas and technological systems are often forms of expression for you. Some occupations usually held by a left-brained person include a lab scientist, banker, judge, lawyer, mathematician, librarian, and skating judge. Pardon? |

Don't feel bad, I couldn't do it either. I struggled through about 4 questions, but then I couldn't figure out the correct (for me) answers anymore and gave up.
Will try again another day, maybe right after I wake up... it seems neat. I have the worst time trying to fill out forms or questionnaires. If they are worded a little awkwardly or the answer isn't straightforward on how it applies to me, I just can't cope. Made all the intake forms etc at rehab brutal... my husband helped, but by the 3rd set of questionnaires, I was frustrated, confused and in tears. The nurse came in to see if I was done, took one look at me and said "Oh honey, you are so done" and took the evil paperwork away. I was so grateful. Starr |

Hello, Starr,
No matter, no need to push or stress yourself. Don't bother your brain w/ it. "Save" your brain for more important energy-expenditures in your days & nights. ![]() Ahh, and I do well know whereof you speak, re: "forms and questionaires". I especially get so stressed-out w/ health history forms, and financial forms. I routinely will ask of a new doctor's office, if they will mail them to me in advance. Because it takes me so long (days) to complete them. ![]() ![]() My State Rehab Svcs. was simply brutal. I in fact had to tell the old guy that it was time for him to leave my home -- (he'd popped in, with no notice) --- because I just couldn't do anymore. He seemed to think me 'uncooperative' with 'the process'. I said (after he'd already taken up over 2 hours of my precious energy/capacities and time, then but only a couple weeks post-injury!! ) --- "You simply must go and go now. You've expired my capacities for today. I simply cannot do anything more today. Goodbye." How abusive. So, I am glad, Starr, that you have your husband to assist you with such forms & questionnaires, and that the Rehab nurse was cued-into-you and responded in compassionate kindness. Hang in there, Starr. It's in no way simple or straightforward. I'm ever so glad to see you posting here on NT again. I do know how it is, when we simply haven't the capacity. Nonetheless, you are in our thoughts and concerns. Do keep us posted, Starr. Best regards, Theta ![]() Quote:

It is strange how post injury forms and questions pose such a problem.
In the UK the form for disability benefits 70+ pages long and it really is a marathon to complete as they require written paragraphs as well as the tick box answers. Overly complex sentences which contain a lot of negatives trip me up - "It is not that I don't like it". I have to play this through my mind a few times to get the logic

How interesting to note that you also, obviously a lifelong creative, right-brained/left-handed, came up with similar results, perhaps as surprising to you as my own were for me. I actually found myself wondering to answer "per the usual, pre-injury/old me", as it were. I was surprised at my answers, as the post-injury/the 'me' with which I must learn to live and function in the world and in my life, now, as I am. Thanks again, Concussion. Best to you. Sounds like you are taking good care of your brain, and not pushing-it, with even seemingly simple, formerly- enjoyable tasks. Sincerely, Theta ![]()
