On May 7 I was in a serious car accident. My truck was hit head on going 65 mph. I was flown to shock trauma where i spent a week and spent 2 weeks at a rehab hospital. Numerous injuries, broken bones etc...In the hospital I passed all the tests that were given and didnt seem to feel any "brain" issues. A couple months ago is when I started noticing the brain fog, zoning, lack of concentration, buzzing in my ears, emotions out of control, cannot sleep for anything and i have only driven twice since the accident and that wasnt too pretty. My wife or son drives me every where and I know I am driving them CRAZY. I am the worst passenger ever. My neurologist told me my brain is fine and to go to a counselor. All signs are depression and ptsd. Oh I went to a ENT doctor and after tests she said that I had lost partial hearing due to the accident/concussion and it was permenant. WTF it never stops. I could go on but I will save all of you from this. Please tell me there are other people out there. Am I losing my mind? Will my head get better?

rolltide,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. I am sorry to hear of your injuries. Did you under-go surgeries to repair your broken body? My first observation to "My neurologist told me my brain is fine and to go to a counselor. All signs are depression and ptsd. " is you need to find a different neuro. He is ignorant about mTBI. There are do definitive tests to rule out concussion or mTBI. There are tests that can image the damage. I posted a link recently in a sticky at the top of this forum with brain scan pictures showing the differences. You will benefit from watching the YouTube video series at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9Xso...ature=youtu.be It is 6 segments that take about an hour. The TBI Survival Guide at www.tbiguide.com is also great. Here are some links to check out: http://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/..._what_the.html http://www.brainline.org/content/201...u-to-know.html After you have checked them out, feel free to ask more questions. There is plenty of good support here. My best to you

I agree, your neurologist isn't clued in on PCS. I too was in auto accident - neuro testing showing deficits and now that I am beyond a year and have made improvements but still experiencing higher functioning deficits, the Neuro suggests to seek help for depression. BTW - depression is a hallmark of MTBI as well as other trauma so keep chin up and try to seek a neuropsychologist who has a background in dealing with MTBI. Neurologist main purpose is to deal with Neurological issues by prescribing medicine.
A neuropsycologist will test you and show how your brain has been affected and then work with you to make work arounds\cope and hopefully have your back when its time to litigate.

You are not crazy! What you are experiencing and feeling is VERY real. It will get better. Mark is correct you may very well want to find another Nuero. I did not catch where you live. This forum is populated by people all over the states and outside the north american continent. Someone here may be able to recommend one.
This is without a doubt the hardest struggle I have ever had. It has cost me and my family greatly and continues to do so. It seems to be a hard truth that the medical society does not handle this condition well. I am so grateful to those who started the forum and continue to post here. I find many reasons to continue to post and visit and hope to pay forward all those who have helped me.

In Richmond Va is a Dr. Nathan B Zassler. I looked him up at a friends advice. Unfortunately for me I am in a work comp case that has gone about as wrong as it can go. You may want to see if you can see him. Google Tree of Life.
