Folic acid only has limits for people who take it without B12.
In people with low B12 it can lead to nerve damage. Typically 800mcg is the OTC maximum for it... If you take high dose you need blood work to assure your B12 is not below 400pg/ml. If you take B12 properly with the folic acid and stay below 1mg a day folic, you should be okay.

I'll tone down the Vit B complex and read a bit more about all the different B vits. It's amazing all the different functions that they affect or are a part of!?! I'm almost done the 100 complex so next time I'll get the 50 complex and see how it feels. I feel fortunate that the numbness I was getting on my top left teeth, cheek bones and temple bones have subsided a couple notches on the symptom scale the last few weeks and head pressure is almost not a symptom I'm getting anymore : ) I've also been able to start listening to music again with little to no symptoms. . . it might sound silly but it's been a milestone step for me lol I won't rant on but I hope anybody just starting to deal with PCS symptoms looks into a vitamin regimen. it's the one thing I've found has really allowed me to get back to somewhat of a normal routine again. Keep positive and keep the recovery going guys. I'm ten months post concussion and I would say I'm 85% or so thanks mostly to the vit regimen I think. |

I'm taking supplements now for almost 2 weeks(the whole fraction mentioned on this thread). When can I expect an improvement, or let's say how long need the vitamins to work?
And also, is it better to split them over the day? |

From my own experience, this forum and talking to other people with concussions unfortunately either pre-existing conditions that were tolerable/unnoticable prior to the concussion or brought on by the concussion can make recovery an especially difficult process. Finding out if you have an underlying something that might be extending your time for recovery is really THE most difficult part of concussion recovery. I myself found out I was hypoglycaemic and that this was one of the triggers for the worst of my PCS symptoms. I doubt the concussion brought this on, I probably had it for quite a while and just didn't really have it bother me that much prior to getting concussed. This was one of the personal things that I had to try and 'fix' in order to minimize PCS. For me, luckily, I found out about it and I'm trying to compensate appropriately for it though diet. There's a whole list of conditions that I'm sure can make concussion recovery a prolonged process and every concussion sufferer could have any number of these underlying conditions I'm sure. How they all interplay to make concussion recovery prolonged nobody knows for certain yet. So to answer your question I don't know when vitamins will start easing your symptoms bud. I wish I could tell ya. I just know that for me they helped tremendously and from this thread I've gathered that a lot of other people have had benefits from them. Sorry I can't be of anymore help to you but I do wish you as quick a recovery as possible. If there's anything else I could try and answer for you I will Last edited by seabass123; 02-21-2015 at 06:26 PM. Reason: * spelling mistakes |

I have always taken the whole regimen at one time. I usually take a B-12 separately with my 5-HTP and L-Theanine when I first get up.
In my experience, it is better to take them all at once than to split them up and forget parts of the regimen. It helps this thread if we keep off topic discussion to the main forum. Otherwise, it can be a lot of comments to sort through.

Could B50 be taken with B12-methyl at the same time under tongue before meal?
What do you think? I read somewhere that B12 is best bioavailable under tongue. |

It does not matter oral vs under the tongue. There are new studies showing oral works fine. Just make sure if you choose to do under the tongue you do so on an empty stomach as well, since the B12 dissolves in the saliva and you swallow it that way
too. Some people get heartburn or upset by B50 complexes, so you can take that after a meal.

Do you have to take b12 orally on empty stomach also or is this just if you take it under the tongue?

Both should be on an empty stomach. This insures you get the
B12 if some of the sublingual fails. I personally don't think much is absorbed under the tongue. It is mixed into the saliva and you swallow that. Historically it was thought that sublingual worked, but studies are showing that oral is just as good...so I think it is the saliva carrying the B12 orally into the GI tract. Once there it can be bound into food...and that prevents the passive absorption there. Hence doing this with no food present.
