I'm sorry if it came off that I was trying to second guess you, I was just trying to clarify my training history. I'm just curious as to what your qualifications are, are you a neurologist or concussion specialist? I don't mean this is a sarcastic or rude manner, just curious because it seems like you know a lot about PCS and other various brain injuries.

I ask specific questions because I know what the answer means. Trying to second guess my questions does not help. Most doctors don't know to ask these questions because they do not have adequate concussion training. There are many athletes who have never suffered a full concussion but are suffering serious deficits from the sub-concussive impacts.

Hi Ron,
Just wondering how your doing today? Mark from Idaho has a brain injury and researches the condition a lot. He is very knowledgeable. He is the oldest in the group and has lived with this condition the longest. I think he is the oldest anyway sorry Mark if your not. (Take it easy on the kid)-mark
I have had numerous blows to the head as I have talked to you about. I think Mark is trying to figure out how many hits to the head you have had. It makes a difference as I told you in our previous conversation. However, you are very young and I think you can heal. It is possible that you may have these symptoms sometimes and will have to learn to work around them. For the most part you are still functioning great. So stay away from all things that are bad to the brain and avoid any hitting of the head at all costs. You have taken a serious hit. It was enough to knock you out and give you a seizure. Anything that makes you feel these symptoms stop doing and rest. This is your brain telling you that your going to have problems if you ignore the signs.
Hope your feeling good today.

I have had numerous hits to the head, more than I could possibly count. Is it normal to have such strange symptoms such as eye floaters, slight memory issues, and the other things Im experiencing? Are these all part of PCS? Anyway...Thanks for asking Brain Patch, today my day was on and off, I had pressure feelings in my head at some points and at other points I felt fine. I talked to my concussion specialist last night, she claims that these pressure feelings sound to her like something called "neuromuscular migrains". Are any of you familiar with this term? Thanks again. Hope you all have a good day.

Unfortunately, we are all familiar with eye floaters, brain pressure etc. and yes these are all "normal" symptoms of PCS. If you can call it normal. It all seems very weird huh? Not familiar with neuromuscular migraines but am very familiar with migraines with aura and vision loss and horrifying brain cracking pain. Are you having any pain?
That sucks that you have taken numerous blows to the head. You know I have very severe problems but there are some on here with more minor trouble. I am hoping yours is going to be the more minor. Did your concussion doctor recommend any medications for you?
Read through some of the posts on here and you may get a better idea of what your dealing with.
Sorry you had an on off day.
Much love brother,
Brain

Thanks for your comfort boss, I am prescribed Effexor, 37.5 mg. A small dose, what other types of medication would you think would help my problems?

You are very welcome. I am very bored today so am glad to help. I still don't know if you have pain or not so I don't know what would be helpful. I myself take MS Contin twice a day for chronic pain. This is a long lasting narcotic medication. I also take Ambian and Clonazepam for REM sleep disorder and nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy. I do not take any kind of anti-depressants, psychiatric medication because they aggravate the sleep disorder and seizures. The others on this site would be able to answer the question on medication recommendations better than me.
Effexor seems like a good starting point. When I worked in the health care industry a lot of people swore by this medication. Said it was useful for anxiety and migraines. Ibuprofen is good for migraines also. Stay away from Tylenol. It is bad on your liver.

recently I was watching a documentary on concussion and neurology and they actually have done some experiments with an artificial form of marijuana and they have had good results with it following concussion and over the next few days. Long term use after concussion did not seem to have any benefit.

Something about it stimulating certain neuropaths, ensuring that they remain intact. I can't remember the details. I'll try to find a link to the subject matter.

I do not condone this as a home remedy!
