Default eye appt, prism lens, light therapy

Today I finally got to see an eye doctor from the NORA website, thank you Mokey for sending me his link!, and I have been prescribed a prism lens and light vision therapy. Just in case anyone is curious, the appointment was approx. $250, the glasses would have started at $200 depending what frames and lens coatings you choose, and the vision therapy will be 3x/week for 20 appts and will be $800.

I am very excited! The doctor knew everything I was talking about and even said what I was experiencing before I told him! We even said one thing at the exact same time (can't stand people standing too close to me because I can't see them properly). It was wonderful just to be understood, as I'm sure you all get.

I had the lens on for only a minute but the world finally looked "real" to me again! I didn't want to take them off!!! Can't wait till next week when I can pick them up. My head and eyes are killing me and I'm going to go now but I just had to share with all of you. Even if you don't think you're problem is eyes, if you're having problems with dizziness or sensitivities, eye fatigue or strain, etc. get them checked out!

He even said that carrying on conversations is linked to the eyes. I will be able to follow them more clearly once my eyes are better. I can't wait, and am trying not to get my hopes too high, to see what benefits I'm going to have from this!

Today is a good day! I hope you are all having one too!

I'm a 39 year old, female, accountant. On July 2, 2012 I crashed my bike at the end of a 65KM road ride. I was fine that day but woke up the next morning to my current world.

Ongoing symptoms include: dizziness, blurred vision, light and noise sensitivities, cognitive problems, uncontrollable emotions/depression/anxiety, headaches (but they're getting better), mental and physical fatigue, difficulty communicating and sleep disturbances.

Currently seeing a fabulous Neuro Psychologist and vestibular physiotherapist and hoping to soon see a neuro ophthalmologist. I am currently doing 20 minute stationary bike rides daily, 20 minutes of meditating, 15 minutes of Lumosity and lots of resting. I have not been able to work or drive since the accident.

The things that have helped me the most since the accident are vestibular therapy, gel eye drops (for blurred vision, sensitivity and dryness), amitriptyline (10mg), and meditating. I am finally starting to see some slight improvements and am hopeful!

My brain WANTS to heal itself... I just have to let it and stop trying to get better!
