Default Stumbling and Awkward Much?

I am feeling better and better, but I find I have to be really mindful of just trying to do ONE thing at a time. It's so tricky because I find it's so easy to FORGET that I need to be careful. I know I need to be careful, but I forget -- if that makes sense. I am not out of the woods, and may never be fully.

Does anyone else find they stumble more with PCS? Or spill food and drink on themselves more now with PCS? I know I do.

I am making myself sit now. I just kind of fell onto the couch, but I didn't hurt myself.

Does restorative Yoga (gentle yoga) help with this? No headstands or fast head movements for me.

I have some meditation I am doing now too and that's a piece of all right. I really like it.

Any other tips with working on GRACE or being more careful and graceful.

Thanks

Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines,

Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something.

Therapy I had: vestibular

3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling.

9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms.
I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery.

Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired.

I love yoga, it brings meditation and stretching, plus guided imagery. A huge stress reliever for me! There are certain yoga positions you can try, and a lot of them you can do in your chair. And you can be creative with yoga, it is all up to you. There are several tips about yoga on the internet. And yes, relaxing music is recommended, as it brings up the positive vibe. Happy relaxing!

Default I forget

Are you doing vestibular therapy? It helps with balance. I'm still very clumsy, probably because of my eye issues, but I've gotten much better. You will too. I'm sure yoga would be helpful, as long as you don't do things you feel uncomfortable doing!

I have recovered my cognitive function, and I've overcome severe vertigo through sensory integration therapy. Wellbutrin has helped me escape depression. I have recently had a few stress-related migraines, as well as headaches stemming from eye strain. I'm also dealing with tinnitus, lack of stamina, extreme light sensitivity, and eye pain. Diagnosed with 9 different vision issues: convergence insufficiency, pursuit eye movement deficit, egocentric visual midline shift, photophobia, visual information processing delays, accommodative insufficiency, saccadic eye movement deficit, lack of coordination, and central peripheral visual integration deficit.

*First concussion: October 2010. I was pregnant and got rear ended. I associated my mild PCS symptoms with baby brain and blamed my light sensitivity on allergies and dry eyes.
*Second concussion: December 2011. I hit my head on a wooden beam, saw stars but did not lose consciousness, and I had very disturbing PCS symptoms but didn't go to the doctor.
*Third concussion: August 2012. I caused a car accident as a result of PCS symptoms. Thankfully no one was injured but me. My husband confronted me, and I finally sought help and took medical leave from work. My symptoms worsened, and I developed severe vertigo.
*Fourth concussion: November 2012. I was riding in a car with a friend and we were hit head on by a driver who lost control of her car. I didn't have a big increase in PCS symptoms.

Hi Defmom,

I had vestibular therapy and should revisit some of those exercises. I can get a little dizzy just bending down to get clothes out of the dryer. I called vestibular therapist to ask if I should still be doing some of the exercises I did. I rather think so.

Anyhow, thx for your reply

Default gentle yoga suggestions?

Does anyone have a favorite dvd or a you tube series of gentle yoga?

I just want to try some things at my house before I go anywhere like a gym or studio to try it. (The less driving I do, the less stress, the more healing too)

Thanks for any replies.

Sincerely

Post injury I used to walk into tables and work tops, bump into door frames. You couldn't count the number of glasses and plates I have smashed because I have missed the counter top.

Apparently I have damaged the teaming in my eyes and have poor depth perception. I have also got Labyrinthitus which compounds the balance issues.

From the time reading the posts on this board it seems quite a common problem

Tongue Hello!!!!!

[QUOTE=poetrymom;986044]I am feeling better and better, but I find I have to be really mindful of just trying to do ONE thing at a time. I got a concussion just by falling and hitting my head on a coffee table. The top was a 1/2 inch thick piece of glass. I barely remember falling. If I blacked out, I don't know for how long. Since then the headaches have been horrible, top that with the migraines I was already getting. My inability to remember things makes it hard to go for my bachelor's degree in sociology. The stittering doesn't help much either. Sometimes when I have to get up in front of a group of people and speak I get afraid, afraid that I can't read what's on the paper. There have been times when I have had to ask what a word was(i.e. like moon), very frustrating.
I find myself being very clumsy at times. When I get stressed out, my left hand starts to shake. That's bad, I'm left handed, can't do my school work.
Just try to smile until you can find the help you need. I wish I had better advice for you.

Default Vestibular Was Off

My vestibular was off and I was walking into walls, dropsy, drop everything, have to watch my step so I would not fall, and was always bumping into stuff.I would have bruises in result.I have got a lot better now with my vestibular therapy. When I would drop something I would be in trouble because my L-5 herniation and I had to do squats constantly to pick anything up......

My name is Tecie. I was hit by a drunk driver on my lunch hr at work 2 1/2 yrs ago. Left with Brain Trauma, broke collar bone, bells palsy on left side which is gone. I was in wheelchair, then walker, now cane at times. My left side doesn't want to co-operate I tend to say at times, lol. So I stumble a bit, they say expect to fall once every two weeks, which I do.
My brother tells me patience is a virtue, gracefull I am not, careful I am.
My sister-in-law, who is my wonderful physical therapist and really a person who understands me most has helped a lot. She told me about this site.
I have a 10 yr old girl who is wonderful and teaches me things I forgot. She teaches me things I didn't know in school.
She isn't real graceful either, but she like me, does her best
