My life has changed also, was involved with my son in hockey, with my daughter
In skating. Since my injury i have not been able to be active with them, this Is so hard and depressing. I cry everyday blaming myself for not taking better Care before it happened. Just hope i will be back to my old Self again so i can have full experience with my kids. Ed |

Hi Ed,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. This is a good place. First, check out the vitamin stickie at the top. There are extra supplements and good vitamins and nutrition you can take to help heal your brain. If you reply, let us know your symptoms and good people will weigh in with what has worked for them' Take care pm

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013. Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines, Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something. Therapy I had: vestibular 3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling. 9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms. I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery. Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired. |

I have done a ct and mri all normal, doctors say
it is in my head, but i was fine just before the injury. I been given zoloft and muscle relaxant the work on and ofg Some doctors say it will take time. I have another referral in to see another nuerologist. My original nuerologist does not want to see me anymore. Ed |

A couple of thoughts. I understand your frustration, and I'm sure it seems like forever, but 12 weeks is not all that long in recovering from a brain injury. I'd suggest that blaming yourself is not productive. You fell on some ice. I walked in front of a moving train. As we go through life stuff happens. The important thing now is how to best recover and move forward. The more you can tell us about yourself the better NT members will be able to help with advice and experience. Additionally, there are brain injury resources in most states. http://www.biausa.org/state-affiliates.htm Hopefully your new neurologist will have additional ideas for you in regards to therpies that can help resolve your symptoms. Recovery is a journey. Best to you as you proceed.

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition. Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life. |
