Default Something I've noted about my own PC symptoms

I think i've reached a point where i have stopped feeling the constant symptoms of Post Concussion, that is, if i don't happen to hit or even bump my head slightly. However, i've noticed that there are some things that greatly help reducing the aftermath. In the past, a slight bump to the head would leave me dizzy and bogged down for over a day but now i stick to this drill:

Never be hungry or dehydrated
If i'm hungry, i'm weak and more propense to the PC symptoms. Try to find a good balance between proteins,complex carbohydrates and a lot of vegetables.

Stick to the Migraine Diet
Migraineurs follow a diet with no stimulants, dairy foods, chocolate, sweeteners, nuts etc. There are many online resources detailing the diet.

Feeling the PC symptoms coming or got hit? lay down immediatly and have something to eat or drink
Specially something with carbohydrates, potassium and magnesium.

Work on reducing anxiety and stress
These are the worst enhancers of PC symptoms, they can aggraviate them greatly if you let them dominate you.

That's what i've learned so far. It has made my life a lot more bearable, i hope it can help someone out.

Thanks for your post, I would add avoid sunlight and loud noises and get about 8 hours of sleep a night, and do only low-impact non-cardio exercising.
My question is how do you lower your stress level? I mean isn't stress just reacting to what life throws at you? I sincerely don't know how people deal with this, I mean even the way other people do the dishes irritates/frustrates/stresses me.

Fell off a horse in late winter of 2009 blacked out for a couple seconds, had amnesia for 10 hours (still don't remember this time), had 2 CT scans, 2 MRI's, 1 MRA all negative. Since the first concussion I have continually knocked my head into different things purely by accident or from being stupid. These many concussions over a short period of time have caused
constant migraines, nausea, and dizziness/lack of balance.
Migraine triggers are:
light sensitivity (especially to florescent or bright lights)
sound sensitivity (especially to high pitched or loud sounds)
temperature sensitivity (especially to cold or extreme heat)
activity (especially if breathing increases or head is jostled)
pressure on head (sinuses, hats, headbands, sunglasses, pony-tails)
lacks or quality (food, sleep, water)
tension (stress, tight muscles, tired eyes, sickness)

Default Stress

Hello,

I have found some ways to reduce stress and this is what works for me.

1. Acupuncture is very relaxing for me.

2. Taking long, gentle walks when I can.

3. Being outside when the weather is good and just hearing birds, or looking at flowers and trees.

4. Meditation and prayer.

I hope you might find some ways to reduce stress in your life.

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013.

Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines,

Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something.

Therapy I had: vestibular

3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling.

9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms.
I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery.

Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired.

I don't know how and don't want to deal with my symptoms anymore. I've really had it after so many years. it's a different kind of injury but most of the same symptoms. I appreciate the help people have tried to give on this site.

I'm open to any tips as I'm only 5 months into this. If you feel the heavy fatigue settling in, what can I do to stop it? I can feel it coming in my shoulders....

I also just feel kinda weird at times. Like when I read therapy or physician reports, it's hard for me to believe they are talking about me. I feel like I'm very aware of my defecits, yet whenever a month goes by I'm like...ooooh, was I really doing that? It's like my brain is waking up little by little?

Meditation worked wonders for me, even more so than benzodiazepines.
