Default How long did it take for your dizziness/imbalance to go away?

I had my concussion slightly over a month ago and i got hit under the chin going up. Since i have cycled through all the concussion symptoms but the one that tends to stay constant is dizziness. I never lost conscienscousness or lost any memory, but it was a very awkward angle to get hit. Im just curious how long do people normally stay dizzy/imbalanced for?

Default Dizziness

Hello

Every brain injury is different so it's hard to compare.

I got help with vestibular therapy. A neurologist made the referral. I had to do exercises with my eyes for it. I went about 4 times and was done.

But your dizziness may be caused by something else.

If you give more of your symptoms, maybe someone else can help.

Take care,

pm

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013.

Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines,

Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something.

Therapy I had: vestibular

3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling.

9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms.
I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery.

Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired.

I don't think "normally" is a word we really use around here Because none of us are normal around here Only teasing,
For me it took about 3-4 months and then at about 7 months I would be dizzy again for a month. My dizziness/imbalance was always accompanied by nausea, so mine is probably a little different.
Good Luck,
In Christ,
Margarite

Since the first concussion I have continually knocked my head into different things purely by accident or from being stupid. These many concussions over a short period of time have caused
constant migraines, nausea, and dizziness/lack of balance.
Migraine triggers are:
light sensitivity (especially to florescent or bright lights)
sound sensitivity (especially to high pitched or loud sounds)
temperature sensitivity (especially to cold or extreme heat)
activity (especially if breathing increases or head is jostled)
pressure on head (sinuses, hats, headbands, sunglasses, pony-tails)
lacks or quality (food, sleep, water)
tension (stress, tight muscles, tired eyes, sickness)

mrtamnus1,

It is great to hear you never lost conscientiousness. But did you lose consciousness ? LOL, It is good to laugh at the screw ups our injured brains let us do. Being conscientious to moderating our living environment is an important to getting the quiet rest needed for concussion recovery.

I hope just a few days have left you feeling better. A month is a very short time in concussion recovery standards.

My best to you.

I'm 5 months post injury, and still have wild bouts of vertigo. They tell me I have vestibular migraines which cause the true room spinning vertigo. I am working with a PT now, and am starting vision therapy soon as my nystagmus is crazy and is embarrassing!! Do you get nystagmus with certain movements or stressors?

7+ months and felt like I was almost there until this car ride to vacation I just took. I even slept 1/2 way.

There is no way to predict unfortunately.

I had a car accident 4 months ago (concussion etc) and have just started vestibular therapy because of the terrible dizziness and I get the worse headaches of all time.

hope you feel better soon.

Default Wouldn't you know....

I had my fifth and hopefully final concussion about two years ago. Vertigo, tinnitus, killer headaches reduced immensely. But then out of the blue it all came back with a vengeance.
We are all different. As soon as I feel good to go, I am reminded that these symptoms maybe dormant in me. Best of luck.
